Here's some pics of my yard and what I have growing. Everything was started by me from seed.
Main area where I grow things.
The pumpkin plants sure like room to grow. I uprooted a dying one and removed a lot of nearby dying leaves.
Orange beauty! Not too long till this one comes inside. There are 4 others growing still.
3 tomato plants out there. I wonder about that mutant tomato sometimes...
My favorite, sweet corn. Another 40-50 days to eat it I think but well worth it. There are 3 corn plants all together.
I don't think this is too bad for my first year from seed. Anyone else growing anything? My neighbor bought some plants and has her own patch with peppers which I haven't had much success with and I'm jealous.

you should add cucumbers next year and green beans i wouldnt suggest corn again but thats jmo. i find it depletes the soil of its natural nutrients too much.
what are ya gonna do with all the pumpkins? i can see making a pie or two but too many pumpkins i just cant see a use for try butternut squash or zuchinni next year i bet youll have good results there.
you tomatoes look to be nearing the perfect greeness for making chow. got a crock pot?

Well, excuses aside, I guess we could grow some stuff on the patio. It's certainly humid enough.

Edible pod peas are one of my favorites; you can just go out and eat them right off the vine. I used to have good luck with peppers, eggplants, carrots and radishes. Did onions and pinto beans too but that was mostly for fun; it's cheaper to buy them.
I see you blacked out the part of the picture where you have your pot plants

I had a green bean plant out there that I took up today - it was dying. It had 2 pods (I guess). I couldn't get a better picture or even a close-up.
Those things inside are the same as the seed I planted that it came from. The pods don't look like the ones in the picture of the seed package; they look like the ones from out of the can of green beans. I can't even see how to eat them, they're hard.
I tried cucumbers, they kept dying. Pumpkins will be used for Halloween decorations and pies. Last year's pie wasn't as good as I'd liked it to be. I've never had squash or zucchini (except zuchinni bread, yum).
We had 2 crock pots, 1 broke and 1 was given away because we never used it. What kind of chow are you taling about? I might give it a try.
Also, I have some plants growing near a window. 4 pepper plants (not sure which are bells or jalapenos), 1 green bean, 2 unknown, and 1 which is either spearmint, oregano, basil or parsley (looks like the picture on the parsley seed package, but barely smells like mint /shrug). s****y pic incoming, sorry.

Carrots died, onions died, scallions died, I uprooted a beet too early and it died. A whole lot more died too... That blacked out part is of furniture.
Do you guys have advice for transplanting? They mostly die the day after. I have pretty sandy soil. I can't tell when to move them out there, either. A Miracle Gro bag of potting soil said move to a larger pot or outside when leaves start turning yellow or fall off. Is that true?

Contractor finds underground pot farm
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y., July 13 (UPI) -- A contractor traced a mysterious wire he found at the Old Westbury campus of State University of New York and found an abandoned underground marijuana farm.
The unidentified electrical contractor got curious Monday when he found a wire rigged to steal power from a building and followed it to a twig- and dirt-covered trap door.
Below, were three 10-foot-by-60-foot water tanks, lights and other equipment - as well as rotted cannabis -- in the underground farm that Nassau County, N.Y., police said had been abandoned three to 10 years, Newsday reported.
Police dismantled the tanks that once supplied the Old Westbury SUNY campus with water and said they had no leads about who set up the once-large pot-growing operation.
Police said the underground pot farm was in rustic, unmanicured spot of the university's campus.

I was just looking for something for another post and when I looked at this thread I just now saw this post.
I don't have any pics on the computer, no scanner and I dunno if I'll use the camera I have because...well look at the horrible pics it takes. My uncle has a good camera that I'll try to use.

Sunflower! It bloomed on Monday when I got back from New York. Nature at work too: if you look close, you can see a bee on it. It's not a honey bee because it's too big, more like a wood worker but I'm no expert.

our little garden got a superlate start, but we have about 15 tomato, 2 pepper, and 3 cucummber plants all from seed
been eating like a cuccumber a day for the last month or so
the tomato plants are like 6'5" and putting out like crazy
got 40 good sized ones yesterday
the pepper plants are there, and have 5-6 tiny peppers but they are growing so slow

nice garden. i enjoy growing things. your soil is definitely a factor. if you're gonna put this much time into it, invest a little dinero into nutrients. if not, then at least get good soil. fox farm ocean forrest is insane and contains organic fertilizers. extremely noticeable difference. can you describe what you're doing when you transplant, since you're having so much trouble?
have you ever considered growing hydroponically? it can be very simple both to consctruct and maintain, and you can do it with parts from home depot and a pet store and less than a hundred bucks investment. you'd have to be semi serious about a hobby, but its a lot of fun and satisfying. insane growth rates, i have tried both and will never go back to soil except for keeping mother plants for clones.. not ideal for once a year outdoor growers.. but if you want to do a continuous indoor cycle clones make things much simpler. its just as easy to do outdoors if you dont want to deal with the space and time requirements of indoors.
won't let me link pics but http://celtic.overgrow.com

on transplanting and yellowing leaves: this can be a result of rootbound, which is effectively lack of room for roots to grow - so yes a bigger pot will help. the yellowing an be a lot of things. if there is yellowing combined with brown crispy pieces starting at the tips this is nutrient burn. miracle gro is cheapo. if it starts on lower growth and works its way up, and pales out from green to yellow, it is likely a nitrogen deficiency. this is more seen in the vegetative stages of growth (before your plants begin to fruit). it could be several other types of deficiencies - could you post more in detail about both how you transplant and the yellowing? i suspect you may be damaging roots during transplant. do you know the PH of your soil? plants enjoy a PH closer to 7.0 in soil, and anything much above or beyond for a sustained amount of time can cause serious problems. the more you can tell me the more i can tell you.
also do you notice any leaf curling on the leafs that turn yellow prior to the yellow? this could be a magnesium deficiency, which can be fixed by mixing in epsom salt from the grocery store, which is basically pure magnesium, into your water or nutrient solution when you feed the plants at approximately 1/3 tsp per gallon
