Haven't tried it myself yet (the game, not just grouping I mean), but I read somewhere that the devs claimed Vanguard to be geared about 20% for solo, 80% for grouping. Is that right, or was that just a rumor I picked up somewhere? If it's true, how'd they implement it? How does it work?

Yeah, I think I heard something like that somewhere in the before-beta days … but honestly, I don't have any idea how they came up with those numbers. To me it seems someone just estimated the relation roughly … IMX, vanguard is about as playable solo as it is grouped. But as always, YMMV.
