Rumor has it that George Bush had a higher GPA than John Kerry did at Yale. I believe they were both solid C students regardless. Anyone care to do a search and find the actual numbers?

Says a lot for Kerry supporters calling Bush dumb. Inarticulate yes, stupid no.

It's almost inconceivable that Bush could have gotten a 1206 without cheating.

What does GPA have to do with intelligence. GPA only tests your worth ethic. The applications for intelligence in school are few and far.

lol I had the same SAT score as Rush Limbaugh

I believe hte unrecentered means pre-1995, when they upped all the scores to recenter the mean from a 930ish back to 1000. With the new curve you can score a "perfect" 1600 by getting a few questions wrong. lol

The SAT only tests how well you can take the SAT. No real knowledge or intelligence is tested.

Only people who think they're smart but got low SAT scores say that. They tend to be leftists.

Interesting way of putting it. I'll have to remember this one. Very Happy I changed your quote from "only tests" to "tests" because the word 'only' makes the idea of worth ethic being tested seem unworthy, or of little value.

That's a stupid comment. Any test only tests what's on the test. How could it possibly test something else?

Intelligence + Work Ethic = Results

SAT/ACT are a fairly good combination test of knowledge/intelligence at the age you take them (The mores you know the less intelligence you need and vice versa). Something testing your knowledge of a subject you supposedly are supposed to know is a good enough test for me to determine someones work ethic.

So someone has to be a workhorse, savant ,or a moderate combination of the two. How much more can you honestly ask of standardized testing?

Add: If you were trying to say SAT scores or GPA don't mean much when it comes to determining who should be president then I agree. Short of someone being a douchebag in one or the other.

If it's any consolation I simply accidently typed worth instead of work.

I like the ACT better. It's a better test.

If you are smart enough you can get a high GPA with minimal work ethic. I did...

I agree with Vekril's statement. I DO know a bunch of smart people that didn't do well on their SATs (Not over 1200).

I've met so many lazy people in my life who try and lay claim to their self-worth by telling themselves "I might not do anything...but I'm really smart!". All of those people are losers now. I thought that attitude was restricted to teenagers, though.

Qald my statement had nothing to do with SAT scores.

What I said was that for those who are very intelligent, you can have great grades with only a moderate work ethic. (you still have to do your work and turn in homework, etc). It also depends heavily upon the individual in relation to the school. It is much easier to be way above the norm for a high school, somewhat harder in college, and by grad school students are so segregated by ability and achievement that you have to work hard to excel.

A good GPA can reflect a few things - smart and lazy, average intelligence and superb work ethic, or the rare combination of both.

I'm of the opinion that the only thing intelligence really means is desire and attitude at the moment.

Nah Mugz intelligence is real. I tend to view it as the way someone's brain operates. Smart people tend to process and absorb new ideas very quickly. They are usually fast readers, creative, have great memories, can learn something new very easily and then explain it to others.

But intelligence and $1.00 will get you a cup of coffee. You need focus and a work ethic (drive and determination) as much or more for success. And that is the bottom line.

You also need some intelligence to stop dangling useless trash sentences such as "And that is the bottom line" to a paragraph. It's sort of like adding the phrase "In my opinion" to a sentence expressing an opinion. My favorite useless fluff is when people use "simply."

"Simply put, evil deeds are wrong."
"This test is simply not fit for these children."

It doesn't add any clarity or direction to the sentences. It's fluff and gives away the attitude and incompetance of the writer.

I bet we're all smart in our own way, ..... intelligence cannot be measured in a single test, ... some of the most intelligent people I know are complete and utter lazy f*****g slackers, with no desire to work .... which they are capable of because they are either "smart" or maybe "lucky" They have found ways around working but still raking in 100k+ annually. Is that considerd "intelligent"? or just set up? oh shit I think I just described Bush in a way. I'll eat my foot now ty.
Bush is a dumb shit! yah!
