How would these two series compare, from an impartial player's POV? G3 vs. Oblivion, G2 vs. Morrowind, G1 vs. … whatever it is that came before Morrowind in TES. I know I much prefer Gothic, but I'm kinda biased being practically grown on G 1 through 3, and I'm sure some TES fans feel the same way about their favorite RPG, but what I'd like to hear is an objective comparison. Thanks!

Well it's not really a fair match, since TES is much older than Gothic. Besides, up until now Gothic was concentrated on the European market (where it was a huge success) and not so much on the US, while TES games distribution has been more evenly spread out. Both series have a huge fan based, and though I don't really belong in either, I liked the deep, immersive world of Morowind much better than Gothic II. Mood-wise, however, Gothic has the upper hand, but IMO it lacks the depth and breadth of the setting of TES.
