the two vid cards was a good idea, but i think you should have spent a little bit more and gone for the 6800GT version rather than the normal 6800 - big difference between the norm and the GT.
I run a single BFG 6800GT OC atm in an ASUS SLi-Premium board and it chews up everything i've tossed at it so far.

I bought the CRT monitor because I've been told they are the best monitors for games...if a LCD is good for games, then I can always get it and switch the CRT to this older system.

back in the stoneage they had big problems keeping up with fast pased FPS games.
Nowadays a human can't really see the difference.
I'm VERY happy with my 23inch Sony LCD and i haven't noticed any issues at all with any applicatino i run

with that SLI combo man you should really look into getting a monitor to show it off... A monitor that can really take advantage of SLI. This is the best purchase i've made in like 2 years;
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4221&category_id=4058&brandid=56
I am waiting on ATI's version of SLI then will go with that to really push 1920x1200 with decent AA/AF... My X800pro can do acceptable framerates at 1920x1200 but with quality settings turned down, however playing in widescreen is really awesome. Also, i haven't noticed any real ghosting problems while playing FPS, WoW or really anything on it so far. Having 16:9 widescreen makes office type applications ten times easier as well because of having so much more desktop space. You don't do much scrolling left and right ;p
There is a 20.5 inch version of it as well thats pretty kick ass, but it doesn't have 1920x1200 native resolution...

CRTs still kill LCDs for gaming
resolution let alone speed.....anyone tells you differently is just resenting their LCD choice

why? give me one good factual reason?
I've switched to all LCD ages ago and i cannot for the life of me tell the difference (i've had a 24 inch CRT and LCD next to eachother playing the same games ala dual monitor setup).
If you say stuff like one does 250 FPS but CR does 300fps stfu , no human being can SEE that.
I understand differences in quality will exist, but if the human eye and mind cant' detect them. what's the f*****g problem?

if you mean "Resolution" as in 1600x1200 etc then i don't see your point.
My 23inch LCD goes to 1920x1600 and my 24 CRT went to 2048x1536.
the 1 inch difference in size explains that.
but all in all mine does every resolution of CRT's of comparable size

you did a good thing here.
Thats exactly what I have, and it's quite simply on a different level from other audio systems.
It's amazing and you'll love it, make sure you listen to the dvd audio tracks the sampler comes with, it's sick

Then you have a s****y crt.
go look out there.
21" CRTs do 2048 all day long
20" LCDs are almost all exclusively 1600 natively
I chose those 2 sizes because a 20" LCD is around the same size as a 21" CRT. a 21" LCD is still almost all exclusively 1600 natively

heh, I don't resent my LCD choice. I have a 24 inch LCD widescreen sitting next to a 22 inch NEC flat screen CRT and the LCD looks a lot better then the CRT. I don't really utilize any resolutions higher then 1920x1200 so i'm not seeing the 'shortfall' of this choice.
As long as you focus on the right specifications while choosing a LCD you will be good for gaming. You have to have good contrast ratio (better then 750:1) and the most important thing is having a quick response time, as long as you select a LCD with 16ms or less, you wont see ghosting. Half-life 2 in widescreen is really something to be seen....
Are there any good CRT widescreen (16:9) choices available? I didn't see any when I got my LCD, and widescreen is just to good to pass up esp. considering that all new pc games generally support widescreen and playing in widescreen is so much better (esp. in FPS) because of field of view. I was somewhat dissappointed F.E.A.R didn't support widescreen but it looks really good in 1600x1200.
However, I do suppose its just a matter of opinion - Side by side I just don't see CRTs as being 'better' then LCDs especially when focusing on picture quality. 1000:1 contrast ratio just seems to blow away any CRT I have used, but i haven't ever paid over 1k for a CRT
