Techs go through stupidity like this approx 80% of the calls:
"Do you see a checkmark beside 'Use Area Code'?"
"No."
"You don't see any checkmarks here?"
"No. None."
"You see absolutely no checkmarks anywhere?"
"No."
"And you don't see 'Use Area Code'?"
"No."
"Okay read me what it says."
"It says 'Use Area Code' and has a checkmark beside it."
Here is what they see:

f**k you too.
j/k. but in all seriousness, there are certain keywords and phrases that net a higher success rate.
Here are some examples with the "confusing" words in red:
"Do you see an option for dialing rules?" (huh? option? huh? rules?)
"Do you see Use area code and dialing rules?" (too hard too keep so many words in their head all at once)
"Read me what you see, please." (the problem is they are poor readers to begin with)
I say "Do you see Use Area Code" because it has a higher "Yes" response than most.

Honestly Paden, you might be right.
Give it a shot. Tech support jobs have a high turnover. I'd like to see the statistics on Verizon especially.
If you can stick it out as a tech support manager somewhere you can probably make very good money.

Then you have the morons from India who can't give a smart person a straight answer.
Formatting your hard drive is *not* the answer to everything.

Dunn, I think part of the problem is that when you TELL someone instructions, it doesn't seem to sink in..but if you SHOW it to them, they get it right away...visual learners vs. audio learners? <shrug> Just a thought....

i was disassembling a computer yesterday, and the person had sent in a letter with the reasons he was returning the complete system and wanted a full refund..
amoung his reasons was,
"i was not notified SWG would require me to spend additional money on monthly fees."
what a f*g

Jokes on him, SWG still runs like shit even on an Alienware machine.
Also, because of stupid s***s that Dunn has to deal with, everytime I have to call tech support for a valid question, they treat me like a retard for the first 5 minutes until (I guess) it clicks into their heads I'm not their average sack of shit caller. After that, they talk to me like a human being, you can actually hear the tone of their voices change once they've figured out I have a clue.

same here, in the middle of their question "have you ran 'DXDIAG'?" and i respond with "yes, and i also tried rebooting, and did try downloading the new version of direct X, so sorry, everyhting you were about to say is out of the way, put on an expert, kthnxbye"
i rarely get the recognition i deserve, unlike most people i read, and try shit out on my own, before i go whining to customer service.
hell, i even turned off my driver, adapter, backup driver, and backup adapter to my video card before i realized i had gone too far without guidance.
so i reofrmatted, and here i am, with XP, but without legitimite games for my playing pleasure.

Verizon is a f*****g joke, my roomate works there. Their average service level, ie calls answered in under 20 seconds, is 20%. Think the average call consists of " hi my bill was large this month, because I talked alot. Can I have $50.00?"
I do tech support for credit card machines, not so bad because they dont have to read much, and when they do its only a single word.. sometimes they f**k even that up. Them - "Func... Func..."
Me- "does that say 'Function' sir?"
I liked working for Hewlett Packard Tech support, much easier than an ip.. if the two or three easier things dont work, F & R.
