Gods and Heroes Classes or Gods?

I heard about the game for the first time the other day, so I went to the official site to take a look and, I'm a little confused now. I see that player characters will choose one class and one god, at character creation? How does that work, exactly? Is the "god" choice like the secondary class in Guild Wars, or what?

Not really, no. The god you choose is just the divine entity that you worship the most (it's assumed that you respect them all to some extent). Each class can choose between two gods, and this choice will reflect later in the game in the available class abilities and feats that you can gain.
