I've tried to sell other "virtual" items through Paypal; and nine times out of ten it would end in tears. So now I don't trust Paypal at all - with anyone at all!
Yeah - it limits business; but its worth it for the peace of mind.

ok so i read this thread and it seams most folks claim only use paypal if the buyer is verified..
but my question is, i seen a few folks asking about bank transfers and nobody answered..how safe is it doing it like this?
also, i read on this site western union was a pretty safe way to do this type of deal..can anyone verify that western union is a safe way to do these types of transactions?
thanks in advance

What happens if a seller gets scammed by someone? They lose their game account AND their PayPal account goes into a negative balance?

They can scam you, but I feel verified paypal accounts are more trusted, so sell to verified paypal accouts.

I HIGHLY recommend using Googlecheckout is MUCH more safer for the seller.
If not Western union is the best way to go too.

I always thought it was safe, but after reading some of the replies, I am not sure. I sold some stuff before... does this mean they can take back their money anytime they want or what?

Not sure what's safe anymore :/
If I can avoid using paypal altogether, I'll do so...

From what it looks like from going through these forums... everything is semi-safe. Just have to trust people and hope you don't get screwed.
Cheers,

I'm looking to sell my account too and I'm pretty concerned about this. Thanks for making a post on it and thanks to the people who answered even though I'm not the OP. I found some good info here.

Doesn't Claim & Cancel only work like once?
I mean wouldn't Paypal get miffed if you Claim & Cancel every transaction?
... that's assuming one has multiple accounts/items for sale. It will work fine if one only has one transaction of such kind I guess.

I have had many paypal accounts just to be safe. I usually get the money and give the account. Then I close the account and recieve my check in about 2 weeks from paypal. That way nobody can scam me.

loloyoma, wait, so you're saying if the seller closes their account right after transferring the funds, the buyer won't be able to reverse the charges? What about that 2 week period it takes for paypal to transfer the funds?

I just got screwed out of 500 dollars by selling to someone on this site that then protested the charges after I sent the info. The scammers are using other people's info at times, too. They then make a 2nd account in the same name, transfer everything over, etc.
I wouldn't give the account info until you receive the money, not just have it sent to you via paypal and then give out the acct info the moment you see the payment.

I've sold like 4 accts total. I've had success too, but I'd never do it again. The scammers have gotten MUCH more prevalent in the past 18 months. Don't give acct info until you've SECURED the physical cash. They'll f**k ya.

Definitely watch out for emails from "paypal" when you buy something saying that the money is in escrow and once you ship an item or verify the trade, the funds will be released. Totally fake but almost convincing.

I've had verified paypal buyers say their account was hacked and I've lost out on a lot of money. they can only do this so many times, but they still do it.
yes after you give them your account they will take back their paypal money after stripping your account, and in the event you dont remember your account information they will sell the account too or use it to farm gold.

Paypal has such a weak dispute system it's quite easy to get scammed, unless you can provide solid proof which is hard to come about for e-transactions.

Selling internet items i.e accounts they can get their money back unless you were to send them something via mail such as a card or anything that you could supply to paypal as a tracking number

Yea I generally find transactions over paypal are getting less and less reliable.

Are personal checks safe.. Me and another person are thinking of doing a trade with a impartial middleman. I give him the account and the person buying the account sends me the personal check and once i cash it the middleman gives the account to the buyer.. does anyone see any flaws in that method.
Only thing that could be a problem IMO is if the middleman gets greedy and steals the account but i dont think he will.
