Anyone know when this is hitting the market?
They said it hits retail stores within a month but they said they shipped them out to their partners, Gateway, Asus, etc.... so how come they haven't been put up on their sites yet or offered in computers?

I'm dying to get this card once its avail.

I would strongly suggest holding off till it costs less than the rest of your computer combined.

Does that seem like a logical price to you?

alienware is selling the GeForce 6800s on their site already. they're in limited availability.

retail stores will have them in another few weeks i believe (2 - 4).

ATI's new card will be available to manufacturers a few weeks after Nvidias hits the retail market.

ATI's will blow NVidia's out of hte water and be cheaper.

I could build a semi good computer with 500$

There is nothing wrong with my Geforce FX for 99$!

Yes there is Aandi, it blows.

If you're happy having a sub-par video card, then yes, it's great. If you care about your FPS Penis, then a $99 FX would never be good enough.

i play nothing at all that needs anything more than what i already have

is there even a legit game out there that will use all of the new cards?

not counting bloatrware sony online games, those are designed to hog resources purposely with nothing to show for it or some shit.

No but for a decent computer you need about 1 grand.

That card looks nice, but I'm waiting until I see some ATI X800 benchmarks Smile Plus PCI Express isn't that far away, so hold out a bit..

HL2 I presume, perhaps Doom 3. But for you to be able to use the card at full, you'll have to have insane ram and good processer.

ATI won't be able to touch this gen of Nvida cards till the gen after the one they're releasing according to their own stolen press release with dev notes still in it ^_^

I wouldn't get the 6800 though, wait for the improved 6900 a month or two later that will be PCI express and cost about the same, or a 6600 that'll also be PCI express and preform about as well for alot less Wink

Same here. I would rather have a 5950 256mb GF FX for the time being.

That statement is kind of ignorant.

If you would take the time to look at benchmarks and tests between the two cards you would understand.

the 6800 is suposedto double-tripple what the best cards can do now, it's a huge ass leap ahead, usualy things like that arn't come up with by 2 parties at the same time, incremental preformance ups, it's anyone's game who tweeks it out the best, but if one side is just tweeking old school idea, and the other comes out with something totaly revolutionary, the new one usualy wins. So however badass the 9800 XT is compared to the 5950, shouldn't have any baring on how the next gen of cards will stack up Wink

So tell me is PCI express going to be so much better than AGP? I rememeber when everyone was saying that AGP was the bestest, they upgrade PCI or something? I really should stay up on the times =/

AGP is is single duplex meaning data can only flow one way at a time. PCI express is full duplex. Data can flow both directions at the same time. so can have a higher rate of data transfer. PCI express gets bandwidth of up to 2Gbit/s through its 2 channels. AGP 8X gets 2.1Gbit/s shared over its single channel. That makes PCI express about twice as fast.

the new Nvidia card doubles the old one. The new ATIs will 'one up' the Nvidias. like i've said, from what i've been told, the new ATIs will blow the Nvidias away.
