Shot down in all of the states where it wa son the ballot if I am correct. Makes me very happy . Marriage is for men and women, a civil union is fine, but the insititution of marriage (originally religious), doesn't need to be distorted by such pervese relationships. So what do u all think?

I think it was pretty sneaky, in a lot of these states the ballot measure prohibited gay marriage and civil unions at the same time. Ten bucks, however, says that the civil union of it was played down, the part being played way up was the marriage part and the destruction of traditional marriages, etc. This probably scared a lot of the voters into passing the measure overwhelmingly, without really having the ability to truly pick it apart.
I think civil unions would have more success in passing in many states, if you take "marriage" out of the picture.
Frankly I could care less about trying to emulate some archaic and largely meaningless heterosexual rite of passage. I think that two people who love each other should be able officiate their relationship, but marriage is, for all intents and purpose, centered around procreation and family, two things which two same-**** partners would have a very hard time accomplishing. Instead of trying to change the rules, make up a new game that fits the players.

And a marriage is just a glorified pact with nobody in particular that can be broken at any time with absolutely no repercussions. What exactly is your point?

nonono! Marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman. Just ask Britney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith and Dennis Rodman.

Marriage benefits society, some could say society resulted from marriage.
You having a steady "hide the sausage" partner because you don't wanna get the plague should have nothing to do with the government.

Adultery used to be a felony. Liberals changed that. So you have no place to complain about the lack of repercussions.

Isn't the real reason that gays want marriage is for tax reasons and the bottom line, the benefits of getting more money?
If you are gay and want to get joined together what is the big deal about having a marriage tag on it?
Is it still about this being accepted thing and now lets add some money to your wallet?

In ancient Greece, love between two men was considered a beautiful thing. In fact, love could not exist except among emotional equals, and since women could never be the emotional equal of men, men were only able to really love each other.
There was also an entire Spartan military formation comprised of male lovers, I would like to see Kbarr be able to spend a few minutes with them

How about this.
Two f**s want to get married, and one wants to be the b***h and play little mister homemaker, while the other goes off, gets a job at the cheese sandwich factory, and provides for his fudge packing family.
Why shouldn't that hard working limp wristed man be allowed to claim his personal c*m dumpster on his insurance as a spouse?
It's a traditional arangement, with untraditional people filling the roles, I don't give a shit what they do, this is f*****g america for christ sake, we're supposed to be free.

Yeah it was pretty **** back then. Ironically, women had the most rights in Sparta in ancient Greece. Egyptian women had it tight too, probably better than women today even, heh.

I understand what you are saying, cheese. I agree with letting them do wtf they want when it comes to wanting to join together ass to ass only to be seperated by cold water. I am just thinking "Lets be real here and stop the bs about needing to be married when you're gay and get to the bottom line and the reasoning behind it, money."
Since the bottom line is more than likely money, does a civil provide that or does it only cover the title of marriage? If civil does then let them get a civil joining or whatever and have the money mongers accept it. This thing with marriage obviously is hitting a lot of nerves and causes seperation of people. Where is the middle ground? Why do f**s need to have "marriage"?

It's pointless man, who cares what they call it, it's just two words that mean the exact same thing. Marriage or Civil.
Same thing.
People are all arguing over a f*****g word man....all they are arguing over is the right to call a civil union between 2 men, a marriage.
I'm like....who cares, woohoo!

Words have a legal meaning behind them though.
Can they get money, just like marriage, for a civil union or not?
One of you f**s on this board should be able to answer this for me. I shouldn't have to search the answer myself btw as I am a voter and if this comes up again and you need me to agree with it, I need a good reason. Otherwise I say take a flying leap and quit trying to have a religious title when you are taking it in the ass.

I voted yes to gay marriage.
Who f*****g cares if 2 f**s want to get married? It does not affect anyone outside their relationship, will not impact your quality of life. Britney Spears cheapens marriage more than any 2 f**s ever will.
If 2 f**s are truly committed life partners, they should be able to get inheritance rights, hospital visitation privileges and so forth, along with all the negative aspects of marriage

Ok, let me add a comment.
I signed another petition to legalise pot, Tuesday. Why? because it would benefit the economy and the whole. Hemp rocks for clothing, paper, etc,...and is cheap to produce. Dupont, among others shut this down anyway.
The war on drugs is bs as if i wanted to do some coke or smoke a bowl I could anyway. Less crime. Lesson learned from prohabition.
Tax revenue is another. There are many other benefits to legalising.
Why is "marriage" so f'n important again? Ahh yes, it's all about money or "accept me and let me corrupt the meaning of your religious marriage title!! waaaaa!!"? hehe

Deal is, a lot of people obviously care about marriage otherwise the votes would not have swayed so far against.

So what really needs to be done is to have a civil union cover the latter of what you stated there. A change in the law or does a civil union already cover this?

Since the title of "marriage" is so damn touchy, does a civil union cover the same?
Well, either way...atm it looks like the homosexuals are f****d and hell, they should like that anyway.

It's an option everyone should be able to make. If the bible freaks don't want to call it marriage, call it civil union. Same rights, same choices, isn't that what freedom is all about?
