"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans ..." (President Bill Clinton, USA Today, March 11, 1993, Page 2A)

Bill Clinton wrote:

I think -- you know, we can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans to legitimately own handguns and rifles -- it's something I strongly support -- we can't be so fixated on that that we are unable to think about the reality of life that millions of Americans face on streets that are unsafe, under conditions that no other nation -- no other nations -- has permitted to exist. And at some point I still hope that the leadership of the National Rifle Association will go back to doing what it did when I was a boy and which made me want to be a lifetime member because they put out valuable information about hunting and marksmanship and safe use of guns. But just to know of the conditions we face today in a lot of our cities and other places in this country and the enormous threat to public safety is amazing.

A fair quote? You decide.

I thought the same thing, but somebody said it's a guy. I find that amazing because he seems to think just like a chick does.

It doesn't get much simpler than this very basic right of being a US citizen. If people raised their children better violent crime wouldn't be as big of an problem. You will never be able to eliminate crime. Take away guns and knives and people will still murder people with ropes or forks or their fists. Are we going to outlaw fists too?

I want my AK47, dammit!

So when they start making death ray guns, I suppose you are going to fight for those to be in every home too. There's a difference between the right to bear arms and having some guns vs every idiot on the street owning the latest high tech mass killing machine. Could we limit those, please? It would be nice if just "raising kids properly" would be the solution but it sure isn't. Such a nice simplistic idea.

I'd rather the kids start out with ropes if they want to kill. Its so much more upclose and personal than spraying a neighborhood with bullets from a speeding car.

Are you implying that women are not worthy enough to have an intelligent discussion with you? What of your hero, Ann Coulter?

No, I'm implying it thinks like a dull minded female. Not all females are dull, Ann is a perfect example.

there is a little town in North Metro Atlanta called Kennesaw Georgia and there is a law there that you have to have a gun in your home. They havent had but 1 or 2 armed robberies and murders combined in the last 10 years. This is a town over 1 hundred thousand too. This is just a small statistic of what Frax pointed out.
