I highly recommend the band Agalloch from Oregon. This is their myspace:

They have 4 samples of their music on their myspace page. Click on "As Embers Dress..." for the best example of what they sound like.
All I can say is that after drifting through metal for years, I've been waiting forever for a band like them.

So its that crap I remember where the idiots scream into the mic. That hoarse, I puked all night long type of voice where you can maybe understand 1 word every few sentences.
It seems the people are more interested in the screami9ng than actual music.
That isn't music, thats just idiots making noise.

Actually, you stupid f*****g stonedrunk hick, I dislike Nightwish because I don't like the opera vocals.
And Agalloch has lots of clean vocals, and his harsher vocals aren't that harsh.
And I wrote "acoustic/metal", implying that there was a mix.
