I've actually never tried it - kind of excited to try something like this.
Anyone have any experience with absenthe? I know the whole sugar cube / water thing to serve it so it's not so bitter.
How much is a decent amount to drink, like drinking the same amount to get drunk on normal alkiboos?

I had some shots of it at the Absinthe bar in Amsterdam, i was roaring drunk, p*****g in the canals and kicking bikes over at 4 am, so it did the trick.

Absinthe will only make u a bit dizzy and kinda trippy. Depending on what kinda that is, (ie where you got it from).

about 3 drinks of this baby was enough to get me to the point of drunkeness i like to be. But considering you are a big man, and ur absinthe is only 50% ( the stuff i get is usualy 70), id take about 6 and ull be laughin.
It tastes like black liqorish and is actually pretty cool. have fun

Absinthe is legal in Canada. A bar I go to on wednesdays, is called "absinthe" and my cousin goes there, so i drink free absinthe all night.

You can buy it, but it isn't the same I think. I bought a bottle when I was over in Europe, and customs took it away, telling me its illegal in canada =(

Plenty of recipes you can try Ug. The most common is:
1 1/2 oz. Absinthe
1 sugarcube (you can use table sugar, but get sugarcubes...adds to the atmosphere)
crushed ice
Pour Absinthe into glass. Use a tea strainer (unless you have an absinthe spoon) and place it over the glass with the sugarcube on it. Put some ice on the sugarcube, covering it. When the ice melts, the drip is ready. You can skip the ice and pour cold water over the sugar, but it makes for a weaker drink.
Basically you want to stick to 3:1, 3:2, 4:1, or 5:1. All depends on your preference. (water:absinthe)
If you have some ladies with ya, try making this for them:
1 1/2 oz. Calvert Extra
2 dashes Absinthe
3 dashes Anisette
1 dash bitters
Stir well with ice, serve into glass. Put a slice of pineapple on top.
Another way:
Put one shot of absinthe in a small tumbler. Take a teaspoon of sugar and dip the teaspoon into the absinthe so that the sugar absorbs the liquid. Then, holding the spoon above the absinthe, set light to the sugar. Let it burn for a minute or so. The sugar will bubble and begin to caramelize. Once the flame is beginning to die down, stir the shot of absinthe with the sugared spoon (smothering the glass if it catches alight). Add an equal measure of water and some ice if required. Careful though. Absinthe is very flammable. Wouldn't want you to end up without eyebrows and eyelashes.
Few other random recipes:
Desire
1/4 absinthe
1/2 tablespoon sugar
3/4 lemon juice
Shake and pour
Traffic Light
2 parts cranberry juice
1 part orange juice
1 part absinthe
Pour into glass half filled with ice
Corrida
1 shot absinthe
1 shot vodka
1 can of red bull
Shake and strain into glas w/ ice
Have fun with it!
