Animation was beautiful!!

I took my four-year old nephew to see it yesterday for his birthday. We both enjoyed it. He said it was "kind of" scary in some parts.

I cried at least twice Rolling Eyes

I saw this, I liked the movie but Nemo was physically and mentally handicapped... also right in the beginning like everyone dies, that was like whoa.

he wasn't mentally handicapped Razz

I thought the message was great. It shows a overprotective parent doting over a offspring with a physical limitation. The answer is the offspring has overcome the limitation but the parent is too busy doting to see that. It also showed that father's can be good parents in a single parent situation. Animation was beautiful, the turtles were a riot and the beginning scene choked me up.

Sutto, children have to learn aobut death and learn coping with it as well as adults. Unfortunately less children live on farms (wher ethey learn from the animals about dying and the sequence of life) , and more children are sheltered and told lies about "mommy went to sleep in heaven" or "you will see Daddy again some day" or "grandpa took a long nap"... this gives children false beliefs surrounding such a confusing thing as the death of something they know and are attached to. The need something to correlate with that and the emotions entailed. Tv and movies have become the basic teacher of death to children and most cartoons portray most victims of death as reoccuring... look at any tom and jerry or bugs bunny.. superheroes etc... Children are more perceptive than given credit for and they also haven't learned the adapted behavior of blocking out what society deems unacceptable or uncomfortable emotions.

Beautiful movie even the grievance side of it.

The other fish in his class were clearly equivelant to around 5 or 6 year olds, he acted like a 3 year old. To be 2 or 3 years behind at that age is a significant handicap. I've worked with plenty of children in this age group, including kids like Nemo.

Everything else you said I agree with.

Majy you are 18 yrs old. How long have you been working in mental health?? Please do enlighten us.

I have worked in mental health with children for about a decade myself. I have two children of my own, and am actively involved in their school. I have dealt with tons of children.. everyone one has a different personalty. I don't think the little fish was meant to be mentally handicapped, but maybe your experience in life with sooo many children allows you to see disadvantages that I cannot, even though I have been trained to help and advocate for the children you speak of.

His father wanted him to have special treatment and sure every little kid who has been sheltered is going to be a slight bit emotionally immature... his father wouldnt let him grow emotionally... I don't think he acted any different than the other fish he was hanging around.. in the first school scene.. jsut trying to fit in....his dad had the letting go syndrome which most parents fall victim to eventually.

Sasa he beats you.

He got 18 years of mental healt experience.

well...some doctors made 18 years of experience thanks to him...does that count?

But I agree , childs dont need lies about life they understand much better then we think.

When I broke with my ex I didnt lied to her I simply said : we dont love each other anymore.

Nemo is a very nice movie but it is about a parent that tries to keep his son safe soo badly that this child can barely breath alone and thus progres in life.

People are too extreme....they or let their child do all what they want....or they surround them way too much. Either is very bad.

Why do producers have to put hidden meanings like this in the movies ?
