I've never played FF XI before, but I've been reading about the game a little, and I was surprised to find out that this game too holds annual Easter related "events", such as easter egg hunts, in-game festivals with associated activities, etc. How come? I mean, this is a Japanese game and franchise, ran by a Japanese company! Isn’t it offensive to some of their customers?

Oh, for crying out loud… let's ignore for a moment that you think someone might be "offended" by quasi-celebrations of a festival not recognized by his faith. More importantly, you're mistaken in thinking that the user base of FF XI is not predominantly western. Well, maybe not predominantly, but quite significantly western. Because it is.
