If you own a GBA and don't have this game yet, get it.
Over 300 missions, a great add-on to the NES version of FFT, with only a few changes.

I was really looking forward to this game since FF Tactics is one of my favorite games of all time, but I just don't enjoy this one.
The Law system doesn't make any sense to me, why is it even there? It just makes battles more frustrating.
I also really don't like having to learn new skills from items, other games have done it before, and it sucked then too.
Plus the characters.. bleh, moogles don't look like moogles, they look retarded. The main character looks like a 5 year old Ramza, and I pretty much hate any game where I have to play as little kids, I want to be a dude with a big f*****g sword, not some pre-schooler who hasn't hit puberty.
Maybe i'll try playing it again, but i've never been so bored playing a Final Fantasy Game (granted that I haven't played a Final Fantasy game since 7 because all of the main characters since then have been flaming homos.)

I got this right before Hurricane Isabel knocked out the power to my house for 76hrs (yea!) Just finished playing a couple hrs ago. Beat it w/ about 54 hrs logged in and 200 missions done.
I enjoyed the battle system, especially the combos that you could pull off, once you're able to have more than 1 person in a combo (you start off with just Marche having the ability for a while.)
The story was ok, but it's clear that the target audience was for the younger crowd (the main characters have issues w/ parents, social status at school, etc.)
I didn't mind having to equip different weapons and armor to learn abilities for my characters, since there usually wasn't too big of a difference in power between each weapon.
Something interesting that I noticed was that after a certain point not too far into the game, the shops sell everything that they can sell. They add tiny bits later on, but nothing significant. It made things like doing missions and learning to steal very important, as the mission rewards and the equipment of your enemy became important.
What was very annoying to me, however, was the fact that since most of the abilities are on weapons, learning steal: weapon is a must. But, it's not that easy to get, unless you look it up online. I never got a weapon with the ability since I never looked it up until after I beat the game. I found out that unless you manage to get the ability at certain key points, you won't get it until near the end of the game when some missions give the weapon as a reward.

At almost every battle, there're laws that can be shown that say what things you should and shouldn't do. The left column has abilities that are illegal, the right shows what abilities get rewarded.
In the course of a battle, if you do something that's prohibitted, you get a red or yellow card (I never figured out why, since I avoid doing them whenever possible ) If it's the character's 1st yellow, you get a penatly at the end of the battle. If it's a 2nd, the character is immediately sent to jail. If the card's red, the character is immediately jailed. you would have to goto the jail in order to free your character, at some fee.
However, if you do something in the recommended (right) side of the law cards display, you get awarded a judge point (which you can use to use the "combo" command while fighting if your character is equipped with a combo ability.) Killing a mob also gets your character awarded a job point. Up to 10 totatl judge points can be stored. Later on, certain characters will get the special ability to summon something special, but at the cost of 10 judge points.
Hope that clarifies that.

Yeah, I forgot to mention in my review that Moogles do look stupid in this game.

I understand how the Law system works, but what I don't get is why the f**k it's even there?
I don't know if maybe I didn't get far enough into the game (I played about 4 hours) but they never really explained why some weird guy in armor on a Chocobo is watching me fight and carding my ass like some second-rate soccer referee.
Plus it's retarded, on like my second battle the law said I couldn't use fight, and I only had one character who could even damage the enemy (the moogle guy with magic) everyone else was just screwed.

Personally, I like it. It gives the game a lot more replayability. For instince, instead of Thunara, Thundara, Thundara match after match with Montblanc, there's limitations that you must get by, and you can do that by either expanding upon his skills, or having a diverse clan that can cover it.
Give it a few more hours, Fin. It's definatly worth it =)
