Think of all those cool cameo people that show has! The sea captain was one of them for awhile.
My favorites are that russian guy who sells that meat thing on a stick and that weird orphan kid that looks like he just came out of the Depression era.
(at a Christmas parade)
Orphan: "Hey lady, do you think Santa Claus will be here?"
Lisa Simpson puts her hand on his shoulder.
Lisa: "Oh, I have a feeling he'll show up!"
Orphan: "Don't touch me! Nothing gives you that right!"
It's just cool how that show uses just about every possible stereotype for a character, even those that haven't existed for 70 years...

haha, fat tony, yeah.
edit: Moe is funny as all hell too, lol. I like the episode where Bart has a crush on his babysitter and the babysitter is making out with Jimbo or whoever. Bart prank calls Moe and gives him his name "Jimbo" and address, lol.
The next scene it shows Moe running through the woods towards the Simpson's place like a maniac holding a giant butcher knife in the air as he ran...rofl.
