Bait, im not real sure about it or anything but those are AMXs, I think thye might have been the same car as a javalin but with a diff name/tag but i am just not sure.
Were they Javalin AMX? or was Javalin its own car and AMX all by itself too?

AMC= American Motors Corporation which consequently got bought out by then Chrysler now DailmerChysler. The Javelin was the response to the Camaro and Mustang and was an AMC Javelin. The TWO DOOR version was the Javelin AMX between 68 and 70. In 71 it became an option on the Javelin .

They made a 4door version of a Javalin? and yes your right about teh AMX just being a option level on the 68-70 javalin.
The big bad Orange AMXs were pretty nice, 390 go-pack and all that.
AMC made quite a few cool muscle cars in that era, The sc/rambler (no this isnt a typo) and the SSx.
Wabi, Have you been to any of the big Cali Rod Runs NSRA/Goodguys events in Cali?
Oakland? LA Roadster Show? paso Robles? trying to think of more, How about Hot August Nights in Reno?
Those are the places i love to go when i get the chane. Next year i am going to SEMA, my uncle is a lighting contractor in vegas and has the contract for that next year and can get me in.
should be fun. other than EQ, Cars are my Hobby. Will be posting pics soon of my projects.

Dodge = Daytona
Plymouth = Superbird.
Only like 52 Daytonas ever mage, LOTS more superbirds. Daytonas came with the 426 only i believe and were the cars made for NASCAR and then were outlawed. And were never actually sold to the public

Actually they were very aerodynamic and as such were outlawed by NASCAR like Roth said because they were kicking everyone's ass =)

I used to own a 72 Olds 442, sweet ride but not a true 442
I'm not sure but i always heard a 442= 400 with a 4 barrel carb and dual exhaust.
My 72 was a 350 rocket with a 4 barrel, and dual exhaust.
Fastest car i EVER owned, i had a buddy that thought his 79 olds with the junk 260 in it could race me. we hit the freeway and used a rolling 55mph start, blew him away and i kept standing on it until the car started shaking on me, think the speedometer went to 130 and the needle was buried.
I had a Trans-am that was pretty nice and got me lots-o-p***y that was pretty fast but my 442 was my alltime favorite.
I actually got the car in a trade.....get this...I'm reading the wantads and see someones looking for a ford 4cyl engine and is willing to trade the 442 for it, i called asked if they still had it, they did, i went to my nearest hooptie dealer and bought a Ford Pinto for 100 bucks was 145 with tax/trans. drove it to the guys house and did the trade straight up!
Front bumper was mashed and it had just straight pipes off the manifold, got the bumper for 50 bucks at a pullit yourself place, and bought new exhaust system for 200, threw a 300 dollar paint job on it and drove all through highschool. couple years later some guy driving by leaves a card under the wiper, ends up being a 442 collector offers me 3 grand for the car....I was broke had 4 years and 700 bucks into it and sold her....wish i never did the car had 0 rust (Ultra rare for any minnesota car older than 10 years)
Ive owned many cars in my life that could be called muscle cars, 442, Trans-am, Camaros, Nova, Dart.
Now im 34 and own a 2002 PT-Cruiser, they come with a 4cylinder only. And now the 2003's have a turbo.......sure wish i woulda waited for 2003.....oh well they look sweet as hell!
