Someone explain the waiver thing to me please. Why does it say "if successful" when talking about dropping a guy and adding a guy on waivers. thanks

because there is a 4 day waiting period where anyone can pick up someone, and if more than one person tries to pick up the same person it goes by the waiver wire, and whomever is higher on the list gets the player.

Waiver wire? |
Initial waiver priority is set by draft priority. Pikachus drafted number 1, so his waiver priority is last. Mine is number 1 because I drafted last.
So, if Pikachu and I both wanted a player, I would get it because my priority is higher, but then I would drop to last in waiver priority and everyone would move up a notch.
That being said, this only works if it specifically says "waiver" next to the player when you try to add him, otherwise he's a free agent and anyone can get him for no penalty.

You get em all unless someone picks one of your guys after your initial pick.

You can have all the guys I waived!
I figured I could use the 'cap room,' I'm last in waiver priority so I had nothing to lose.

However, if you do pick someone up who has been waved, you go to the last on the waiver list i.e. you would now be 10th, akronn would be 9th etc. If you pick up a Free Agent (someone who has been available for more than 4 days) it does not effect your waiver status.

So let's say that we all try to pick up Kurt Warner as a Free Agent and Silvermouse gets him as a Free Agent. Since he's first, does that mean he doesn't lose his waiver position for subsequent picks until he picks up a player that was waived from another team? And since Kurt Warner was the first on everyone's waiver transactions, am I correct in assuming that our waiver transaction rankings gets bumped up in priority thereafter.?
And Reneloth, what were you thinking about trading Faulk and Green for essentially just Jamal Lewis? Don't give up on Marshall yet cause those retirement rumors are b******t. Even with his off season surgery, he's gonna have a big year!

Jamal Lewis put up 2000 yards last year. Mcnair and Green both put up almost exactly the same thing. You can only use one, and Mcnair will play games with a broken leg :-p. There are only a couple teams that can match my team as it will be on the 9th, just wait.

If Kurt were on waivers and I wanted him, I'd get him. If he were a free agent, it's whomever clicks the "add player" button fastest.
And as for Marshall Faulk, I fear he may die.

Actually, I'm not sure if this occurs with free agents but we'll see come Monday since it appears that all transactions don't occur til every Monday. And it appears that you can't reserve a Free Agent pickup for the following Monday.
Now in order to pick up a Free Agent, is there a difference between dropping a player first on your roster then picking up the Free Agent or simply adding the Free Agent and subesequently dropping an existing player on the roster? I noticed that the Pikachus were able to drop players midweek but he wasn't able to pick free agents yet. I tried to do the aforementioned way of adding a free agent first then dropping a player but this apparentally has to clear waivers and won't be completed til Monday.

Pikachu dropped those 4 players, but if he picked up 4 replacements it won't show up until august 9th. And if I happen to pick one of them in the meantime, I will get them on august 9th. Free agents, however, can be grabbed and instantly added by anyone
