$1 million bill leads to arrest
Tuesday, March 9, 2004 Posted: 5:11 PM EST (2211 GMT)
COVINGTON, Georgia (AP) -- A Georgia woman who tried to use a fake $1 million bill to buy $1,675 worth of merchandise at Wal-Mart was arrested, and police later found two more of the bills in her purse.
The U.S. Treasury does not make $1 million bills, but similar-looking currency is sold in some souvenir shops. The fake bill featured a picture of the Statue of Liberty, police said.
"It looks real, but of course there's nothing real about this," said Stacey Cotton, police chief in Covington, about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta. "People do crazy things all the time."
A store clerk immediately noticed the bill was fake when 35-year-old Alice Regina Pike handed it to her on Friday, Cotton said.
Pike then tried to use two gift cards worth only $2.32 to buy the merchandise, but when that did not work she again asked to cash the $1 million bill, Cotton said. The store then called police.
Pike was jailed on forgery charges. A woman who answered the phone at the jail said she did not know if Pike has a lawyer.

forgery charges surprise me, usually you wont get that if you make bills that dont exist, like if i made a 7 dollar bill i would get charged with fraud but not counterfitting or forgery.

Ever notice how they have benches (wooden ones) in every Wal Mart for people to sit down? I finally figured out what they are for. THey are so that you can sit down and WATCH the people shopping there. It really is an amazing slice of the 'average american' population. I see people at Wal Mart I've never seen anyplace else doing things that I'd never seen anywhere else.
The employees also give a run for the money in the 'Universal Fucktard' quotient. Its like there is a sign outside that says "You must be THIS DUMB to ride this ride!"

uh.. most of the time the benches are outside the shoe department, and are used for trying on shoes!.. or, they're benches for old farts to go take a breather after shopping for a good 30 minutes!.. or they're for people to sit down with their kids on for uh.. shoe tying, breast feeding etc!
I shop at walmart, there's nothing wrong with saving cash..
sure there's the same shit out there for 5 bucks more but hey, 5 bucks is 5 bucks! the shit adds up!
clothes are cheap, candy's cheap =p and groceries are closer than driving all the way out to Bum fek egypt to go to the commisary*sp?* =/
Oh, and if you time it right, you can get a whole roast chicken, for half price!! (which makes it 2.50 or close to that)
i like walmart.. maybe it was because i was brought up with 3 sisters and cash was tight.. or maybe it's because my dad's stingy and doesn't like pulling out his wallet for anything!

Since I have moved to AR, I don't really have a choice but to shop at WalMart..I am a good two hours from any decent shopping. While I do NOT buy clothes there (no f*****g way), I do buy groceries, craft stuff, etc.
Their prices are very good, in some instances, on groceries, and nothing to write home about in others. They don't accept coupons, I don't think, so you can still likely get items cheaper at your local grocery store if they aren't raking you over the coals, pricewise.
As to people watching, I am sure Vekril and other Joisey boyz would agree that walking the boardwalk on the Jersey shore (Wildwood, Atlantic City, etc.) is akin to being at a never ending freak show

Yeah, I read some other article I don't remember where, that said it wasn't actually a counterfit bill she used. There were some 1 million dollar US bills printed up years ago by a Canadian company as novelties or something. For some reason the US gov never found them all, and they've been kicking around with a few turning up ever since for years. That's what she actually used (her husband gave them to her). They didn't actually decide to make counterfit million dollar bills.

That's what I was trying to comprehend. I'd actually be less shocked if she counterfited it. At least that would mean she undertood what she was doing. When they wouldn't take the million dollar bill in payment, she asked if they'd just take it and give her smaller bills for it, like she wanted a million dollars worth of twenties or something. And she also wanted to use two gift cards, that had two dollars left on them. It's mind-boggling.

I would have just stuffed the bills in my pocket and said b***h you just got robbed! just to see if she would throw a fit saying that she was just ripped off 1 million dollars.
This kind of reminds me of that Beavis and b******d episode when they zeroxed a 1 dollar bill and handed it to the convience store guy upside down. Then tried to bribe him woth more photocopied money. They were so dumb they thought the money was real and would pass as such.

Neuroleptics have several nasty side effects. One of then is A LOT of hair growing, even on women. When I worked at a state psychiatric facility in New York some years back, I worked on an admissions ward. Most people that came to that hospital had been there before and were older, chronically ill patients. They were all hairy. It was gross.

oh, btw--collecting disability--yes, you still collect it even though you are in a mental institution...usually, the checks are signed over to the institution, but some unscrupulous relatives collect them at home and spend them while their cough*loved*cough ones are in the hospital.
