I give Rinoa the fight for sure.. Aeris just doesn't have what it takes to stand up in combat. Also, it's not really cheating for Rinoa since her dog is part of her presence. It would be like seperating Cait Sith from his Mog. You can't really do it.
If you haven't maxed out Tifa (Lvl 4 Limit Breaks + Premium Heart) then you probably shouldn't answer the third fight. Zell's a good fighter but to Tifa's credit, I've only seen Cloud upstage her in terms of damage dealt in a single round. Her normal dps is so-so (Cid is higher) but when it comes down to Limit Breaks nothing demolishes an opponent like 7 YEAH's in a row.

Yah, but isn't that luck based? Plus I have never seen it go off, and admittadey I havn't played much with Tifa, but her limits even out-do the highwind??

tifa's final weapon is absolute crap ...
her damage is based on the level of her limit break .. and since you cant attack while the limit break is maxed she can never do max damage with it .. often she does awful damage with it .. between 50 and 200 when her limit break is low ..
I ended up taking her out of the party with one of my games and used yuffie instead .. she has a killer % based attack with one of her weaps if I remember correctly
the weird thing is, with my first game ever played everyone does 9999 damage with each hit (tifa doesn't when her limit break is low, but cloud and red13 both do) ... but with other games I've started since they don't ... I'm not sure why .. maybe I hoarded str+ potions or something

Yeah Tifa's Limit Breaks are very weak and in the beginning of the game when you don't have many options, she doesn't really stand out. Tifa is all about delayed results. Not only do all her Limit Breaks stack, but her ultimate weapon doubles in power if you score a MISS, which is very easy with the higher level attacks.
Tifa won't shine until you get her to lvl 80+ which most people never do because they get frustrated with her early on. Despite being a core character, she's very forgettable in combat before lvl 80. Her magic rating is pretty s****y also so she doesn't really shine there either. If you happen to score a string of YEAH's tho, you will see she easily outpaces Highwind and Cosmo Memory.
Overon... huh?

I admit her damage per round is easily outmatched by Cid, Red and Yuffie, but 50-200? At what, lvl 10? I'm not following what you said about never being able to max her Limit Break.

Yep yep! All seven of Tifa's attacks stacked on top of each other (and not necessarily all YEAH's either) are only beat by Omnislash in terms of damage dealt.

I liked FF8, maybe because the card game was so damn fun! FF9 I despised. I finished it, shelved it and never touched it again.

her final weapon ... her best weapon ... the one you pick up from that machine in that town (it unlocks near the end of the game)
that final weapon's melee damage is based on Tifa's limit break meter ... the more filled the meter is, the more damage it does ..
with my other characters their attacks were always 9999 (save cloud when he has low health, since cloud's final weapon is based off his health meter) ... but tifa's melee attacks could vary from 50 - 9999 based on how high her limit break meter was ...
since she can't attack when her limit break meter is maxed, keeping it maxed isn't an option .. so tifa's damage at the end of the game (she is level 99 at this point) is very random, varying based on how filled her limit break bar is ... it's kind of annoying .. making her absolutely suck at the end game unless you use her primarily for casting and don't mind using ethers a lot because you used the w-item exploit

What I'm still not understanding is, why is it impossible to max her Limit Break? It's not hard to land a HIT or a YEAH in all seven slots (the last one is a doozy I admit) but impossible?

Nevermind.. I see what you mean now.
I'll be honest with you I've never stopped to notice. I've always played Tifa and I've always gotten no less than max damage out of her by the time she's around 80.

no ..
when you Attack .. standard melee attack ... with her final weapon ... that attack damage is based off how filled her limit break bar is ...
if that bar is full .. she does maximum possible damage using standard melee attack ..
however you can't melee attack when her limit break bar is full (i think .. you might be able to attack, but definitely not using 4x or area attack materia, making the attack similarly useless)
So.. tifa is always left with her standard melee attack being below that of the other party members because her limit break bar fluxuates from empty to full determining her melee attack damage (with standard attack) .. whereas everyone elses damage is constantly 9999
I'm not talking about her actual limit break at all .. just fighting in general .. which in my opinion is much more important and does far more damage per fight than any limit break save for cloud
I really don't know how to explain it more concisely than that

Well, truth be told, any ultimate weapon I usually save for only the really big boss fights because I'm always growing materia.... no growth slots aren't really an option for me. Tifa's better weapon is still the God's Hand. In regards to her Ultimate Weapon, my assumption was always that the weapon would power up when the limit gauge was maxed then remain that way for the reminder of the fight which is normally why I save her Limit Break for the fight against Sephiroth and unleash it ASAP, then I'm dealing with a (I'm assuming) powered up weapon. That's how I thought all the power up weapons and armor worked.

hmm
interesting
that may be the case .. I don't really remember enough to be sure that it isn't the case .. as far as I remember witnessing it in game and reading about it, it was just based off how filled her limit break bar was at any given time

Killing sephiroth = W-summon + KoTR + Mime + Mime + Mime + Mime + Mime + Mime + Mimex1000!!!
Same for Emerald weapon
Ruby is a little trickier because he eats your party members. Damn that Ruby

so like your friend comes over with a memory card and you fight each other

Crono Trigger >>> Crono Cross.
I was very VERY disappointed with CC. Personally, it had little-to-no link with CT.

You're in an oasis and can choose two things to put in your mouth: water or sand.
Choosing Chrono Cross would be choosing the sand.
