Don't get me wrong - I fully enjoy FFVII and replay it every year. I just don't believe it to be the best in the series as many people (Especially those only playing FFVII - FFX) seem to think.

Cid also dies in FF6 if you dont do things exactly right. As far as the FFs past 7, the only good one imho is 8, 9 was fun but nothing really new there. X and X-2 were bleh. X-2 has got to be one of the wrost games ive played in a long time. Most new RPGs are not fun for me, when I spend 5 minutes watching some over done animation each time I want to preform a default attack it gets boring.

Actually I just remembered.. Cid doesn't die. He's pretty badly beaten up but he's rescued by someone and also brought back. That leaves only Tellah so far to die out of a game.

I cringed when I saw "the only good one is 8 imho".

Didn't 8 introduce Tetra Master. I think I played that more than I did FFXI when I was subscribed. Loved that little card game.

You will find that to many people - its a split as to which is the best in the series: FFVII or FFVIII. I am stunned by how many fanboi's are for each one and how violent the wars get when defending thier game =)

Haha... my next question was going to be a FF Deathmatch.

Round 1 Rinoa vs Aeris
Round 2 Squall vs Cloud
Round 3 Zell vs Tifa <--- this would be the best fight IMO.

On a totally unrelated note.. ever noticed how much Loz looks like Zell? I wonder.... they definitely did add in elements of FF VIII into Advent Children, I wonder if Loz was one of those elements.

Pick your winner !

The "Super Nova" cast by Sephiroth destroys a few worlds while it's inc, doesn't it?

The only thing I liked about Kefka was the way he looked as the final boss (bottom to top).

Also, the way people are portrayed as they die is crucial for the person playing the game.

The reason Aerith's death sticks with me is because it was, imo, the greatest CGI moment ever in a video game (that I've played, at least): Aerith is praying for holy in the City of Ancients...Cloud approaches...Sephiroth falls from the sunblurred sky above, running Aerith through with his sword...she leans back and then slides forward, dropping the shimmering globe, which bounces into the water below and sinks to the bottom, illuminating the ripples with white light.

There have been other memorable character deaths in games, but nothing like that one.

Wait. Who is it that dies on the deserted island with Celes?? Or does he not die? It's been years since I've played FF4/2, but I still think it has the best soundtrack ever for a game.

Yes Cid can die in FFVI in the world of ruin if you feed him bad fish or dont feed him. This is option though as you can save him as well

I have seen some pretty memorable CGI scenes especially of late. Xenosaga II has an awsome sword fight near the end and in Shadow Hearts: Covenant when Amos attacks Rasputin its f*****g amazing

Not the same Cid I'm talking about. I'm talking about the Cid who jumps off the airship loaded down with dynamite in an attempt to close the hole you've opened to the underground in American FF II. The Cid on the island with Celes is not even a playable character. That American FF III.

I thought you were like, really, really familiar with these games?

Aye - I hate that shit (The no edit button). I was going to mention something about the soundtrack but I couldn't edit. I own the OST for every FF game from FFIV on and I personally think that FFVI has the best in the series after listening to them over and over (and over) as I LOVE Nobuo Uematsu. FFIV would be my personal second fave.

Whichever one American II was (I don't even bother anymore) was a great soundtrack. I don't remember III's too well which says something, I think. I love VII's a lot.

II is IV
III is VI

Some of the tracks from FF VI are just incredible in my opinion. "The Fierce Continent" which is the Atma Weapon battle and "Dancing Mad" which is the games climatic battle music come to mind immediately. There are some awsome ones in IV as well with my personal fave being "The dreadful fight" which is the boss music when battling the each 4 fiends (Rubicant is teh pwn)

To be honest. FF6 was the first RPG I really played from start to finish. It was also the first game I really got into the characters. I always enjoyed FF4 also. I had both for the SNES.

FF7 really was a great game and changed the way FF's are made today..

Am I the only one who hates FF8? I don't think I even finished that last Dungeon at the end of it, I hated it so much.

I'm only on the second CD of 9 and it kept freezing, but a buddy from work let me borrow his.. How does it compare?

FFX.. The ending just left me wanting more, I really did like this game, even though I didn't finish all the side quests / end weapons. The ending was way too easy with just 3 final weapons.

My Ratings FF6 / FF7 / FF2 / FFX / FF5 / FF8
*I never got into FFT but do have a burned copy.

Don't forget Terra's Theme from III/VI, spawned some amazing remixes on OCRemix. Specifically Death on the Snowfield and Terra in Black.

A party of all monks in FFT = VERY powerful early on, and a VERY easy class to gain experience and job poitns with. They can also use chakra and can rez. I have yet to finish it, but with my monks I got pretty far, but I had to get up and go to college.

The Dwarf Cid in FFIV (I think) was a bad ass character. How many times did he suicide to just be found in the castle sleeping it off?

No i despise 8 as well. FF II (Famicon) and FF8 are the only two in the series I do not replay. I beat each once and never went back.

9 is allright but it it ranks lower on my list of FF's
