Howard Stern announced Wednesday morning that he will leave Viacom/Infinity when his current contract expires at the end of next year, and will take up residence at Sirius Satellite Radio.
This means:
* No more 24 minutes of commercials every hour (Sirius, financed by subscribers, is expected to make no use of commercials on Stern's show);
* No more censorship. Beginning January 2006, Stern no longer has to say “eff,” “ess” and “mother-effer.”
* Everyone everywhere is going to have access to the show!!!!
Shares of Sirius rose 52 cents to close at $3.87 on the NASDAQ. Shares of XM Satellite fell 48 cents to close at $29.

Yea, sattelite radio costs 10 bucks a month or so. I don't think stern will be the same on satellite radio though. The thing that made him popular was that he was always pushing the rules and looked like a rebel. Now that he can say whatever he wants, any college kid can sit around swearing and doing fart jokes in a totally uncensored forum. I am glad his stupid show won't be on the local radio anymore though.

I hate c*m Channel but my morning station is on CC(TK101). The massive bleeping and length/number of commercials sucks ass.

Exactly. Opie and Anthony are just as bad if not worse than Howard Stern. Shock jocks are a dime a dozen

Give it a few more years. I think here in Detroit we've got 6-7 CC stations... and I don't think there's more than 11 stations total with signals worth anything. Radio is quickly turning to shit.

I'm saying that Clear Channel already owns way too much radio. Clear Channel is synonymous with business, not radio. People that know music should own radio stations, not people that know what the dollar sign looks like.

I don't know why you dont all want Satellite radio anyway, soon it will be so cheap and widespread that radio as we know it will die.
