Just thought to kind of consolidate some of the other games and stuff. These are free online games that I've found around the internet...
<u><b>Winter's Roar</b></u>
Winter's roar is a sort of overall modded version of EverQuest with revamped NPCS, quests, and zones. What makes it free is that if someone wants to play it, they can get a buddy code from someone with an EQ subscription and downloaded all the required EQ files, no charge.

<u><b>Gunbound</b></u>
It's like Worms, Tank Wars, Dome Wars, that little dos based monkey game with the bananas, take your pick, but it's a fun game to play.

<u><b>Ragnarok Online</b></u>
If Blizzard North and Verant ever decided to have a baby, this would be it. It's an overhead view of a sprited character in a 3d world. All the NPCs are sprites too, it's messed up Korean style, and I think made by the same people that made Gunbound. It's free because someone released a very good server emulator and now really nerdy kids with an extra supercomputer sitting around can run their own modified servers. Usually the modifications make the game a lot easier than originally intended(lvl faster, more item drops, warp to any town - pok anyone? -, reset your skills, buy hats that you're supposed to earn, stuff like that). I play on a server called TamaRO, which is fairly legit. Others can be found at the Monster Gaming forum.

so if I have an EQ account...and I want to play this free EQ thing...'Winter Roar' I don't have to pay for it....and there are no legal issues? Also, are there many people who play it? I don't want to go on there and do /who all, and only 20 people showu p.

oh another thing...I tried doing this f*****g Winter Roar thing...and it said I have to have a web based email address or whatever. And hotmail isn't acceptable. I tried signing up to that f*****g go4.it or whatever the hell it was and it wouldn't work, everytime I tried to log in, it would just take me to the log in screen again. So basically I can't do this because I dont ahve a f*****g web based email.

Haph, my go4.it account didn't work either, I made one at www.mail.com and got the confirmation email like 12 hours later. And yeah, when you do a who all you'll get about 20-30 people.
PS knights-online link doesn't work.

Also, if anyone plans on playing RO, I found a much better server. The patch download and registration stuff can be found here, but you have to register for their forums first. I think the link to original RO and sak ro are broken on that site so you'll have to get them from somewhere else, like the tamaRO site.

arg...everytime I try to create a character my client crashes. I did extracted that WRUI file into my default UI folder.
On the site it sounds like there is more than one file i extract, when i download it, there is only 1 file in the folder.

nm, got it to work...didn't work at first b/c I patched regular EQ...which changed the characterselect file in the UI folder back to default.
I played for like 10 minutes ....EQ is still EQ, no matter what quests, or NPC's they put in. I quit in 10 minutes

Winters roar is like a modded version of EQ. There are only like 10 zones, but they are all re-zamped with new mobs, and new items and quests and such. New spells also.
I suggest Scorpious2k. It is a modded server as well, but everything is about the same other than that you can #zone anywhere, and there are some added mobs with some good items.

Im playing on wr and during peak times which is like 5-12 est there is usually 100+ ppl on the server. Recently the server hit a high of 134 or some shit no idea if we have passed that. But during euro hours ie around noon on weekdays is only like 30ish ppl on.
Look up taws, currently a lvl 56, 57 sham if i log on and lvl b4 raid but im to lazy.

Oh, try looking on Sourceforge.net under Crystal Space for some of the free game projects, there's a few MMOs etc under construction. All open source, so all free.
