The high GB models cost a lot more though
Also you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars getting a black market replacement battery for the Creative mp3 players

Actually the iPod batteries are down to 40 bucks now. Do a google search, they are easy to find.

And since I can't edit... The store I am quoting from (while in New Zealand) has the 60GB Creative at 775 (NZD) and the 40GB IPod at 1017 (NZD) a straight conversion won't help you much though since the USD lost like 15-20 cents vs the NZD over the past few months but stores still aren't reflecting the price change, ie. it will be cheaper than current conversions direct from NZD to USD.

but anyway upon further checking USB hard drives are a lot less expensive than an IPod or a Creative Jukebox.
For example,
Maxtor - External Personal Storage, One Touch USB, 80 GB, 7,200rpm, 2048K cache, External, USB 2.0
318 (Compared to 775 and 1017, pretend it's monopoly money or something)
Hell, even this 300GB one is cheaper than both of them...
Maxtor - External Personal Storage 7000, 300 GB, 5,400rpm, 8192K cache, External, Firewire, USB 2.0
731.
I'd still personally recommend getting an mp3 player though since you can listen to mp3s on them too, my friend in university had a 20gb Creative Jukebox dealy and he brings over movies or episodes or games or stuff to copy to my comp and I give him whatever stuff I've collected that he wants etc.

Looks like all they did was change the case. All the specs are the same.
Personaly I would go with Firewire800 as oppsed to usb 2.0 but it is more expensive. If I am not mistaken the Ipod uses Firewire800 as an option. I am not sure you can store files on them though. At least I did not know you could. They are really nice and small to.
I don't really have a need for an external drive atm. All I really use is a 512 meg jumpdrive. It is about the size of stick of gum. But it depends on what you need it for I guess.

dont want fire wire. my laptop already has USB 2.0 in it and the card for my PC is only like $20. I have no wish for a Ipod as they cost way more and dont have as much space .
These have 120 gig's and are only around $150 - $200 . the series 1 is $20 - $50 more depending on the site you are looking at. can't figure out why.
Guess all i really need is about 80 gig though.

Series 2 has a 160 gig model which Series 1 doesn't. Series 1 looks nicer. Series 2 should be better, because 2 > 1

See i was thinking the same thing . 1 looks better but 2 had a larger one and is called series 2 meaning it prolly came out after series one and being newer normaly means better right ? but series 1 costs more .... why would the older one cost more ?
