Anybody got bandwidth graphs for this machine? Or is it running other crap besides Realpoor?

There are a handful of people that have offered to take over Realpoor I believe. Many people have the money and/or the bandwidth to run it. Ish's wishes (haha that rhymes) appear to be that the board stays, despite the offers. That's all fine, and I certainly respect that decision. I find it odd, however, that someone wants to hold onto their board, yet refuses to exert even a tiny bit of influence over how the board is run. It just seems like a logical conflict of reasoning. Ish could clean the board up overnight, but for some reason refuses to. I don't understand it, but I don't think it's my place to.

Mods are not, and never were, the problem. The problem are the ADMINS. From what I understand, the mods here can't delete user accounts, change post counts or any of the things that really f**k the users up. Only admins can do that. And time and time again it's the a*****e admins here that have proven they largely possess no self control.
You can have a thousand mods and it wouldn't really be a problem, there isn't anything to moderate and that's that.
We're going back to that old. self-defeating argument that somehow Realpoor wouldn't be Realpoor if it had rules, that anarchy is the *only* way to go, that is until an admin has an axe to grind then all bets are off.
What a concept.

The point is that users should have minimal rules. Admins should have lots of rules. Really the only justifiable reason for an admin to do ANYTHING is protect the integrity of the board. E.G. if someone's running a posting bot that's spamming the front page with new messages every 30 seconds, stop them, or if someone's message destroys the formatting of the board fix it.
The trouble is that those sort of things don't happen often enough to keep admins amused. Power wants to be used, so if there isn't a good way to use the power, it will get used in a bad way. I think that should be a corollary to Lord Acton's quote or something.

Counselor Troi's life is put on the line and Captain Picard is mistaken for a god-like being by the inhabitants of a primitive culture.
A team of Federation anthropologists, working in a camouflaged outpost on Mintaka III, have been observing the Mintakans - a race of Vulcan-like humanoids whose development is at the equivalent of earth's Bronze Age. But when an explosion rips through the post, the expedition's leader, Barron, and his assistant, an elderly woman named Warren, are seriously injured. A third team member, a young man named Palmer, is dazed in the blast and wanders away from the site.
Beaming down to assist the Federation officials, the Away Team is spotted by two Mintakans, Liko and his son Oji. Stunned by the sight of Warren being beamed up to the U.S.S. Enterprise, Liko accidentally slips and is critically injured in a fall. To save his life, Dr. Crusher beams Liko up to the ship, although it violates the Federation's Prime Directive, which states that members are not to interfere with other cultures.
Regaining consciousness in Sickbay, Liko overhears Picard promising Barron that he will find Palmer. Despite the fact that Crusher performs a procedure to remove his short term memory, it doesn't work and Liko returns to the planet describing "the Picard" to other Mintakans as a god, capable of healing wounds and reversing death.
To find Palmer and minimize any cultural contamination, Riker and Troi beam down to the planet disguised as Mintakans. They overhear Liko telling his friends about "the Picard's" powers and are shocked when three Mintakan hunters walk in carrying Palmer. Liko immediately assumes that Palmer is a servant of "the Picard" and it would please the god if they presented Palmer to him.
While Troi diverts the Mintakans, Riker beams himself and Palmer up to the Enterprise. When Liko and the group realize what Riker has done, they fear that "the Picard" will be angry with them for losing Palmer. To redeem themselves, they seize Troi with the intention of killing her to prove their loyalty to "the Picard."
Fearing for Troi's life, Picard has Nuria, the Mintakan leader, beamed aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, hoping that if she is convinced that he is not a god, she will be able to persuade her people of that fact. Despite all his efforts, Picard is unable to convince Nuria that he is a mere mortal -- until she sees him stand by helplessly in Sickbay when Warren dies and she realizes Picard has no power over life and death.
Just as Troi is about to be sacrificed, Nuria and Picard return to Mintaka III. Liko, still believing that Picard is a god, attempts to prove Picard's omnipotence by firing a crossbow at him. Only when he sees Picard suffering from his wound is Liko convinced of his mistake. Troi is freed and after Picard is healed, he bids farewell to the Mintakans, who are left to progress on their own.

We are currently on route to the former planet of galactic
peace, Nimbus III. Nimbus III never seems to stop fascinating
me. It was a place where the famed crew of Capt. James T. Kirk
once walked. To live and breathe the very air that they
breathed will be one of the many climaxes of my life. What they
experienced during that journey, the bizarre alien god, Cybog,
and each other will never cease to stimulate me. After many
times of viewing the footage of the encounter I can never seem
to get my mind off of Kirk's butt. I don't know what this
feeling is, but it is driving me and the Enterprise there. It
seems that something powerful, and yet very soft is pulling us
there, Counselor Troi called the feeling from the planet almost
sensual. Whatever it is we will meet it in 3 days.
Ryker sat in the darkness of his cabin starring at the
stretched image of the stars flicker by. The feeling that was
drawing the Enterprise towards Nimbus III intrigued him.

is originating from Nimbus III. Troi sat up. "Yes, ever since
last week it seems that there has been a presence in my bed,

at the doctor. She felt her attraction. "Perhaps tonight

What admins have done anything lately? last i checked I fired the one doing that. get this one more time. Me, I as in myself, am the only one who regularly visits the board. I don't do shit other than pick at a couple of the most outspoken trolls who thrive on the attention to begin with.

Well Khrath, I certainly understand what you're saying about you being powerless even as a mod but I have to say that calling me an ungrateful whiner who does nothing to help the board is kinda stupid, and I'll tell you why.
I've offered to foot all or part of the bill for RP before, and I was never taken up on it, for whatever reason. What else am I supposed to do to "help", precisely? I can't exactly take over the f*****g board at gunpoint, so complaining and offering to pay for the board in exchange for some halfway decent administration is more "help" than most of the if-you-don't-like-it-you-can-leave people are actually offering, if you think about it. I'm interested in improving the board at whatever cost, whereas all your complacent posters are content with the status quo.
Can someone PM me Ish's phone number? I'll settle this if you think it's going to "help".

I'm failing to see your point. We should never change anything we care about or try to improve it if it's not tangible and in front of our face? You're probably the same person who would justify ninja looting gear in MMOs because "they're just pixels!"
Yup, I said it. I care about the board. I care what happens to it.
