If you don't know basic info about the game, why would you want to be a guide? And if you're too lazy to look the stuff up, what good are you going to be as a guide? I think guides are supposed to help people and stuff.

I hate to say it Scor but he's got a point, sorta.

It should all be on the site but it may have changed.. let me look and see if I can get the application the site's changed a little.

I agree nah, I was being lazy... I answered it all on my own ...

However, I was telling Maelstrom to "Shut the f**k up" just cause he annoys me.

They ask lame questions like "What 4 zones have Hill Giants".

A lot of those questions give away how much you've actually explored EQ versus powergamed yourself to the top of the shit heap. Some are just stupid, but the "What zone is this guy in?" ones are neat.

I've been turned down for guide access about 5 times now. All my answers are right and the mini-thesis I wrote on EQ for the application shows a good sense of humor and willingness to help. Maybe they found all the posts where I talk about the 1001 ways to sploit EQ or something. Sad

OR MAYBE ONE OF YOU FINKS IS A SNITCH.

It's a thankless job, you have no real power, SOE treats you like crap and you have to deal with stupid players all day. Why would you not want to be a guide?!

About the only fun part I had was when we did GM events. (Which from what I understand they don't even let guides do anymore) It was pretty cool being morphed into a Sand Giant, werewolf, evil Dark Elf, a Wyvern a Froglok and a Sand Giant sized Gnome. Smile

The funny thing was when I was a guide on Povar I asked the other guides what level their main characters were on their home servers. Most of them including the Senior Guide had never passed level 30.

All the answers are on the lore section of the eq website except basic eq knowledge if you actually PLAYED the game rather than playing POP the game. Being a guide on a pvp server owned you would be like "resolve it yourselves" and they would start killing eachother. Imagine killing AOW (i was a guide at start of luclin) with another guild killing your clerics and dispelling your MT.

Dont waste your time on being a guide if you actually wanna help people. If you wanna see cool stuff for a couple of weeks while being an answeringmachine go for it though.

This is true, but It takes them awhile to catch you though. I quit guideing and it took them about 6 months to start charging me again =)

But you don't have to guide every day. One of the most honored guides played 35hours a week, play 10 as a guide or less and you're set im guessing.

minimum time requirement now is only 6 hours a week. And shifts are broken into 1 hour increments.
My free account ended almost immediately. Maybe because of how long I did it for, and being on special teams like Red Team and Swat, My account was more visible.

The application isn't just about what you answer, but also about How you answer. You can also be denied if your account has any warnings on it.

I got sick and tired of all the damn whining.. waaaah.. so and so is ks'ing me. waaaah. 2 years was enough for me.

I heard from someone I know who still guides.. The CS portion of guiding will go away for some outsourced version of CS. However guides would still be around for events. I'd consider going back for that.

Just rumor though. Since I haven't had access to the guide boards in over two months. Smile

being a guide is retarded. Its just fun when they come to decide something and you can just not do what they say because its only a guide.
