Not only is EverQuest a great game for playing, it’s a great game for humor! In case you haven’t noticed, the EQ world is full of an amazing number of NPCs with names that are entertaining and show that the developers have a great sense of humor, and obviously stay up way too late and partake of way too much caffeine. Check out these examples!

If you visit the lakeshore in the West Commonlands, you can find a lonely man skipping stones. His name - Skippyn Stoneshear. ("Skipping Stones Here")

In the Qeynos Hill area, you’ll find Guards Regis and Philbin – a reference to Regis Philbin, the popular American TV talkshow/gameshow host.

In Kithicor Forest, watch for three tigers by the names of Reggit, Eenot, and Hobbes. These look to be plays on three famous tigers: Tigger (from Winnie-The-Pooh), Tony (the Frosted Flakes Tiger), and Hobbes (from the comic strip ‘Calvin and Hobbes’).

In South Karana, there’s a Bard at the fountain named Vhalen which is interpreted by many as an abbreviation for Van Halen, the famous rock and roll band. If you talk to Vhalen, you’ll find he has some interesting things to say about another Bard named "Metala". A reference, perhaps, to a rivalry between Van Halen and the band Metallica?
Staying with the Metallica theme, there are two Barbarians in West Karanas named Lars and Ulrich. Lars Ulrich is the drummer for the Metallica!

In Steamfront, watch out for Feddi Dooger - which is believed to be a reference to horror-film villain, Freddy Krueger, from ‘Nightmare of Elm Street’ fame.

In Freeport you’ll find a Bard Merchant named Jekel Enheid. Get it? "Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde"!

In Steamfont, look for a pretty little spider named Charlotte, from the book ‘Charlotte's Web.’

Underneath Qeynos there’s a Gelatinous Cube named Cubert – an obvious reference to the 1980’s era arcade game called Q-Bert!

In the Highkeep music room, you can find two Guards named Chopin and Bach.

At Lake Rathetear you can find Prince Kyrmt Keroppi - a frogluk. So… here we have an interesting mélange of the fairy tale Frog Prince, ‘Kermit the Frog’, and ‘Hello Kitty's’ frog friend Keroppi. What a triple play!

In Kedge Keep there’s a reference to Shakespeare’s MacBeth - two sharks that go by the names of "Cauldronboil" and "Cauldronbubble".
