Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) just announced that they're releasing a free trial version of EverQuest 2: Echoes of Faydwer.
EQ2 demo named “Play the Fae" will give first-time players the opportunity to play as the various character classes and races in the city of Kelethin, including the Fae, the game's latest race.
This seven days trial is now available for downloading at the EQ2 main site.

Actually, with the play the fae demo you can ONLY play the fae. Despite the ridiculously embarassing look of the fae, theyr actually kind of fun... and that safe fall is amazing...

I stand corrected... after you have created a fae character and played it, the other race options open up. I'm not sure if there is a required amount of playtime or if you only have to make and logon to the character once. Sorry for the misinformation. I read the email I recieved when I signed up and it reads, "EverQuest II's new 7-day trial, Play the Fae, allows you to try out EverQuest II's new character race, The Fae, and a new starting city – the treetop city of Kelethin – both features in EverQuest II's 3rd expansion pack, Echoes of Faydwer™. Once you've played as a Fae, you will be able to try out additional character choices – including race and class – and experiment with different play styles. There is no credit card or subscription required to participate in this trial."
Once again, sorry for the misinformation.
