I really like EVE Online a lot and have been playing it for more than 6 months now. Appart from playing it, I also like to think about the inspiration for some parts of it – for example which organization or state resembles something in the real world. Is anyone else here thinking about it? For example, what do you think, which state in the real world is the inspiration for the Amarr empire?

Well, I’m not sure about it. I think that there are some elements that suggest that it’s a bit like some unified Muslim state. They are kind of religious freaks and they like having a mighty leader . But I wouldn’t go that far as to say that the authors of the game wanted to make such parallels between EVE world and the real world. It’s more like they’ve been making a few stereotypical kinds of states and they all have to remind you of something in the real world, but they’re also kind of mixed up. Amarrians still use slaves and in the real world you cannot find slavery as such anymore.
