At first I thought that europeans cannot play with us at all but it seems that you can play if you buy the US version of the game. At least that's what some guy told me yesterday. He said that his cousin who is currently in France is playing LOTRO on the US server. Was he lying?

I heard that too. But I've also heard that you can't buy a US version if you're not from the US. When you try it you get some message like: 'you can't do that from your current location'. But if you have someone in the us, he/she can buy you the game and then send it to you. And after that you just have to register as if you were from the US.
