I've lived in texas, and I must say, I still have a few friends "over there", so I know that you all arent the same. Kbarr and yourself however, stereotype like there's no tomorrow.
On the BMW note, BMW>Buick. Was funny that other post about american cars. All the parts are made in China, Japan, Germany, all over the f*****g world, then some guy in Detroit pushes a few buttons and , Voila ! Hi American car !

If you think BMWs are reliable (which is what that survey rated), then you're as dumb as Vio. Anyway...why you would compare an $80,000 car to a $22,000 car is beyond me. Obviously the $80,000 car will be better (though not as reliable). I think you were just trying to be nationalistic....but you picked the wrong country.

Haha, wow you are stupid. The military personnel showered regularly for the most part. It was the locals that had a ripe smell to them. Washing your ass in a bidet, sprinkling some water on your face and dousing yourself in perfume/cologne is not the same as showering every day.

Now let me fix a few statements you made, they need some corrections. Not all of europe is socialist and lazy. But norway sure leans in the direction. But since its a little insignificant country, no one really cares. Most europeans do shower, nowadays. At least I hope this to be true. Many europeans don't deserve to live, but then again many do. France sucks and I would like to see them all die, but thats just me. And you should all thank the Mighty US of A until you die. Scrotum, thats because we like reminding you that the only reason your country even continues to exist is because we protect you. If the US went back to an isolationist policy all of Europe would be overrun within a couple of weeks. The only reason Eurotrash can say they don't care about militarys and were primitive for having such a powerful one and using it is because we protect you since nearly your entire continent is to pathetic to realise the need to protect yourself. Theres plenty of other things we could bring up, go read the "Things Norway will never do or have" thread. Thats the best thread in the last few months btw Kbarr, nice job!

My grandmother was a big time socialist. She didn't just preach though. She would sell all my grandfathers shit and go buy food & clothes for the poor. My dad says that sometimes they would come home & she would be emptying the house =p. But you know what as much as I disagreed with her views she practiced what she preached.
My aunt on the other hand is one of these Eurr-leftists from Spain. She considers herself a socialist. b*****s about the Jews & the US putting down the Palestinians, the Latin Americans, The SE Asians, ETC. Yet she lives a luxurious lifestyle. She has a fancy car, travels all over the world, has a beautiful house.
Her problem as I see it (and I think is the same with a lot of the leftists over there) is that she sees these people as children that do not know better and need to be helped. She is an educated person and knows what is in their best interest. Just as she knows more about these things because she is a cultured European with an education and we are just a bunch of loud, ignorant americans.

At no point in my diatribe did I state that the US was the ONLY reason certian countries exist and others don't(USSR for example).
What I am saying for the people who need it explained is that the US was the MAIN force, the LEADER of the world when it came to defeating the opposition in WW1, WW2, and the Cold war. Yes, I know that we joined the world a little after the fact in WW2, but even before we put foot to ground in europe we had pumped over millions and millions of dollars in aide. Then once we where there, in force, we took charge. This is fact. It sure wasn't norway who grew those two beautiful mushroom clouds on the japanese mainland. Shit, they didn't even bother to make helmets for there own military, they used old Nazi equipment for years after the war. That is beyond comical.
I know during WW2 the English and Russians fought like hell, even france to some degree. But in the end its was the US and our taxes that scored the winning run.
The cold war was an American affair and because of it the USSR went bankrupt, again our tax dollars at work. That little back and forth build up actually helped form the policies that resulted in lame, backwater semi socialist countries like norway. Why build up a strong military when the Americans are doing it for us. NATO was a great little club for all the little guys, wasn't it. Look how many ex Soviet satellites are clamoring to join now, I wonder why. Everyone wants to be on the winning team it seems.
The US did all this and in the end became the OMNI power it is today. And all the while remaining and economic monster.
Jealous little ankle biters like Mr Ballsack who talk shit and take shots at the US are a joke. And I love to yell at them:)

Actually, i have to agree with the point of Europe taking huge advantage of the American war machine during the Cold War and after. European nations instead of aiming for a equal-partnership relation with USA in defence and international intervention issues, just let USA take charge and do almost all the dirty work. That was mainly for two reasons imo:
1) Why spend huge sums of money on armaments when USA offers to do the job? You can spend the dole instead on social policy and pray USA does well.
2) Massive armaments have a very negative connotation in Europe ( buildup before the World Wars etc.)
This trend continues and of course, while Europe has now no defence problems of its own ( Cold War is over ) has the negative aspect that a single nation ( USA ) takes the lead in the international policing area and while it may take the correct decisions at time ( First Gulf War ) and implement them, it may fumble also, like now in Iraq, with negative consequences worldwide. This is not how a proper international security system should work, a single nation acting on its own volition, without counsel from other nations and defying the UN. Certainly not the way things should work presidents like Woodrow Wilson and FD Roosevelt envisioned back then.
Back to Europe, blame can definitely be put on the whole of EU of not having the similar military ability to the US of acting anywhere as needed, always in the frames of UN policy and international law. This ability would work not in antagonizing way to the US but rather in a cooperative way and would ensure world stability for the years to come. The resources are there (money, arms, personnel etc.), however there is still reluctance to go that way fast, for financial reasons primarily i guess. There *will* be a united Euro-army for that purpose eventually but , with the slow speed things are moving, it will take some years to be up to the task.
