That's my point. You will be a state. A member of a larger country. America's culture is relatively homogenous throughout the country. That is why I can refer to Europe as "Europe" and not Germany, France, Belgium, etc. You are becoming a part of a whole. A homogenized culture.

I didn't say end, you illiterate f**k. I said beginning. Currency is a large part of a nation's culture. You lost it. That's your first step. I agree that economically the originally conceived EU was a good idea for you folks because you can collectively bargain with the US. But the concept has changed from an economic union to a political one. We here in the US understand what's going on because we went through the same thing between 1776 and 1787. "United States" implies a unity of separate entities, d*****s. States have their own laws which are guaranteed by our constitution...but not yours. BTW, there are no states where you can drink when you're 18.

We're not selling out, we will become a part of a whole, in some federal aspects, some econimic policies, but saying our culture will be lost is not true =/ Architecture has nothing to do with a currency, siesta's have nothing to do with a Federal army, languages won't die, the French will still make their wine, and I sure hope my chocolate will be the same.

Dude, we're not eliminating our national government. Like Canada, Germany etc we're divided in provinces, each province has it's own system, with a federal organ to cover the whole. The EU will simply take the place of our federal organ in some specific tasks, and unite them with the rest of the EU countries.
Losing our monarchy might be a loss of culture, but then again, the monarchy is false, the king has no power what-so-ever, so what are we losing?
