I recently did it on a hunter and basically just did every daily I could do with ease and farmed like non stop, it didnt take long just go out and do it quick and easy - not to mention since 2.4 you can do 25 dailies for 10g average each one on a good char in 1-3 hours thats decent money and you can farm the rest. Playing the ah in the offtime is also nice and professions really help with farming or playing ah.

I would do dailies, farm motes, or save up your Badges of Justice, buy nether vortexes and sell them on the AH. On my server, they sell for 250g each.

I don't know how you made money out of doing Skettis quests when it was 'abandoned' there is only about 2 dailies there.

as mentioned above, dailies is a good way, finishing up quests in zones like SMV and netherstorm is good b/c at 70 you get gold for completing quests
find things that sell well, like primal shadows sell for about 40g, and chunk o basillisk, needed to make spell dmg food, sell for about 30g for 20

The problem with the netherstorm/SMV quests is that I did quests out there to level, so I've never really had a chance to make money, since I haven't bothered to get up a profession and dailies are just so repetitive.

They're a TON of fun. And if you have a gathering profession like mining, it gets much easier to make money gathering or even doing dailies.
I'm saving up for my second right now... in a sorta half-arsed way.

i can do daiyly's pretty quick myself. i do around 20 daiyly's a day and i do them all in almost 1h30/2h depends on croud

Auctioneer works. Its a program that tells you average prices and buys stuff for you... Also Farm Netherstorm around the mana forges. Great drop rates on signets etc.

5k gold can seem overwhelming but its really fairly simple. Daily quests can net you a ton of income. The Sunwell Island and Ogrila and Skyguard all offer a lot of opportunities to make gold. Also don't neglect your professions they can be a good source of revenue. If you have trouble saving gold, just make an alt and send all your excess gold to it. This way you don't have the temptation of spending all your gold on frivolous items.

I got mine from selling arena points lol. I got a 5v5 team up to 2150 and then sold 10 spots each for like 500g for 1k+ points that week

But as others have said, mining, dailies, primals are all good ways. Depending on your profession, placing epic armor LW, tailoring, and engineering scopes on the AH can usually net you some good money.

I've obtained most of my gold recently by just whoring the AH, buying & reselling everything possible.
It works. Dailys are probably just as good, but I'm lazy ^_^

Fastest way to earn gold is to quest. Do the 25 dailys.
Try to prioritize so that you do the fastest ones with most reward first just in case you get short on time. It is also a good idea to do the ones which involve killing mobs because there is always a chance to get good drops.

Would you mind posting your class? Just because some classes can farm things easily while others can't. Also, do you raid? Because it might take quite a bit of respeccing if you do. For example, I play a paladin (which I'm looking to sell, if I could inject a shameless plug here), and most of the time I play as Holy, for raiding t5-t6 content. However, you can farm about 20g in one pull down in SMV at the demon hunter section of the Ata'mal Terrace not including world drops, netherweave, Arcane Tomes, Sunfury signets and all that jazz if you spec an AoE prot build. On top of that, they respawn very quickly and you can do your dailies whenever you get bored of it.

One good way to make money, if you are leveling engineering is to make a mote extractor. When I was leveling in nagrand on an alt I had over 20 motes of air by the time I was done with the quests. So I didnt really add much time to farming just grabbed clouds as I ran around. Also once you hit 70 farming Primal Shadows was a really good way to make money since a lot of high end guilds are buying them for shadow resist gear. Daily quests combined with a little mote farming(no killing involved) I had 9k gold in under 2 weeks

I made my epic flyer in about a months time on my holy priest, I just made sure I did my dallies each day and sold enchanting mats / enchants, I also ran a lot of heroics and used the badges to buy nether vortex's and could sell those for almost 300g a piece.
