NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Burger King has unveiled a new breakfast sandwich that's a huge bet not everyone is dieting.
The No. 2 fast food chain debuted its Enormous Omelet Sandwich Monday. The sandwich has one sausage patty, two eggs, two American cheese slices and three strips of bacon.
That works out to 730 calories and 47 grams of fat -- more than a Whopper burger, which the Burger King Web site said has 700 calories and 42 grams of fat.
While the new breakfast sandwich goes against the trend at some competitors to offer healthier fare, some analysts were quoted as saying the new sandwich is likely to be a sales success.
"The critics will still label it food porn," Sherri Daye Scott, editor at fast-food magazine QSR, told USA Today, which first reported the story. "But the average male fast-food customer does not have a problem with this."
Scott was right -- the new breakfast sandwich was quickly criticized due to health concerns.
"Eating like this is a step on the way to a heart attack," Fred Pescatore, author of The Hamptons Diet told the newspaper. "It's irresponsible."
Morgan Spurlock, who ridiculed McDonald's in the documentary film "Super Size Me," told the paper that Burger King's new breakfast sandwich, "should come with a $5-off coupon for your first angioplasty."
Still, the paper said the new offering could also make Burger King more of a player in the breakfast market, where USA Today reports it is way behind McDonald's (Research).
The new sandwich comes about four months after Hardee's also bucked the "health trend" in fast food restaurants by offering a burger it dubbed the "Monster Thickburger," with 1,400 calories and 107 grams of fat. (For more on the monster burger, click here).
Burger King has been privately held since it was sold by British food conglomerate Diageo to a group led by Texas Pacific Group in 2002.

take off the sausage and it sounds amazing
The critics need to lay off the Big Brother crap already. If you have a sandwich like this once in a while (once a week even) it is not going to kill you. If you eat one every day, you are a stupid f**k who deserves to be obese and short-lived.
Freedom means freedom to make bad decisions as well.

Damn that's not much on that. I have 2-3 eggs, 4-5 peices of bacon or sausage and a hunk of cheese for breakfast usually.

Where the hell do you people find time for this? I always give myself 20minutes to shower/dress and 5 minutes to eat. Sleep is just too precious.

I get up around 5:30 or 6 and cook breakfast for myself; it takes 10-15 min at most. I get in the shower around 6:30 get dressed and leave around 7 or 7:10. I just wish school didn't start at 7:15 or I would sleep in later heh.

It my corner deli they make the "breakfast special". Its a 12 inch hero roll, with 3 eggs, bacon, ham, real sausages, 2 cheeses. I get mine with SPBK ,thats salt, pepper, butter, ketchup. A large coffee black no sugar and a large oj.
BK is weak.
Years ago I got what we called the "crazy sandwich", every other morning for breakfast.
It was a Blimpies large roll, 3 eggs and the works. That was everything they had in the store. Bacon/ham/sausage pattie/cheese and every topping they had, hot peppers, sweet peppers, you name it.
Ate that or something real close to that, every morning for many years. And my heart is still 100%, no disease. Go figure.

Not eating breakfast lowers your metabolism and contributes to weight gain, also, breakfast is the best meal of the day.

Yups..its been proven that people that dont eat breakfast get fat. Also same thing for people that dont sleep enough. Been proven that if you dont get enough sleep you gain weight.
I try to eat a good breakfast with carbs and whole grains. Then I eat protein mostly for the rest of the day. Whole wheat and honey pancakes for breakfast for the win!
My only struggle is snacking at night. I like snacking late right before bed and this = naughty.

I'm back on the Atkins style diet right now while I get the last bit of fat off and all the protien is nice for lifting. I might die a few years early from the fatty foods but hell I drink, dip, and I'll be getting shot at in a couple years. I'm not exactly worried about dieing at 65 instead of 70 heh.

I did atkins for awhile. Works great for weight loss and works FAST. Just try to stick to the white meats and fish instead of all the steak and ground cow. =)
On a side note, I hope when you do get shot you bleed ALOT and the only person nearby to give you a blood transfusion is black so then I can call you part n****r. This would make me happy.

Ehhh I doubt I would get a direct blood transfusion but I'm sure I'll see a black medic. Remember..n*****s don't usually make it through basic.
Btw, yeah atkins does work very fast but I like my beef/venison and I love the protein.
