This does, or will eventually find itself needing to be placed in the Political Forum, unless it dies. Not sure how a person could think the talking within this thread would not evolve into getting into political debating and posting.
When enough of the polulation votes to fairly represent the population's views then it might be worthwhile to change the system, and I stress the word might. Until then we have it set up so the electoral college interprets and decides the outcome of the election based on the popular winner in large pupulated areas (states). Why change the system when enough people don't vote? Keep asking yourself why with every answer you come up with until you've filtered down to an answer that is valid and can no longer be asked why.
