anyone when first hooking up new computer have problem where right when you start it goes for like half a second then shuts off...using asus motherboard-P4, all new, im thinkin i hooked somethin up wrong...anyone?

Things you could try:
Check all the pwr/reset/led connectors.
Make sure the power supply is cabled correctly to the motherboard.
Make sure you aren't shorting out the motherboard on the case (check how you mounted it to the case)
Bad memory/cpu?
Check pci/agp slots... make sure things are secure
Check and make sure hd/floppy cables are hooked up correctly.
