I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to hear about old EQ legends. People, kills, items, feats, guilds...
Like the first Avatar of War slaying server-wide.

It was on the Nameless Server and it was by the guild Legacy of Steel. (with the help of Shock of Swords and some friends) What made it even more interesting was we used a special tactic: charming one of the giants with huge amounts of hp and using it as a tank. This was before people had farmed ToV and sleeper's and whatnot, so tanks simply did not have the hp to tank AoW yet.
They ended up nerfing the charm so that it did not work on those giants after the 2nd kill, and the AoW wasn't killed again until the final night of velious, (as in, the day before the luclin expansion) when he was dropped twice in one night by Legacy of Steel on the Nameless and Fires of Heaven on Veeshan.

Hmmm...I seem to remember that, but wasn't it a crappy, way to easy, version of him? Like it was after some sort of change to the encounter or something?

Actually, I think ED killed the new, suped-up Emp first.

BC was the first guild to kill Seru at the zone-in!
There are no guilds like FoH or Afterlife anymore that people all know and follow. LoS is still around but they aren't what they used to be. When Raging Fury killed Mistmoore first I was like "who in the hell is raging fury"?

Group of 6 necros, all but one under lvl 20, killed the first Giant in the Oasis. About two days later they started nerfing necros.
Long time ago, trivial I know, but it was a first !!

ED killed got the first Emp 2.0 kill (after they changed him). That's about the only legit server wide first TM had if I recall.

Actually, TM were also the first to let that worm thing mature enough to drop worthy loot in Acrylia Caverns.
And with the help of myself, Gorthag and a few gullible fools, TM also completed half the Plane of Sky (AH!) rewards first.
So yeah, nothing really worth mentioning.
EQ was home to EQcaster too, and most of the Safehouse initial bunch came from here (Zato, Vaslin, Wraine, Tibis and those other rogues).

Original emp was fully slowable, and deathtouched every 45 seconds. It was a complete zerg fest, dictated largely by luck that a mezzer wouldnt take the deathtouch and wipe the raid. The new emp that ED was the first to kill was only disease slowable, so did triple the DPS of the original emp, and had his deathtouch replaced by a 4k DD on the tank, this being back before tanks broke 8kHP fully buffed. It's a tossup as to which one was harder, but when he was changed, the VT guilds didnt bother going back to kill him until after ED had pulled it off.
Zzrazt did have the first serverwide necro epic, and TM was the first server to collect all of the original epics.
How could any of you forget CoS versus DoA on Faydedar? Tarew Marr had the first KSed dragon in the history of EQ!

Uglar discovered how to do the armor quests in PoM. He sat up there forever with his wizzy killing Petunia and such by himself to get cards to combine, and got the funny money to get the boxes of dolls. He figured out that you could combine the dolls with the crap armor to get the class specific armor. After which he got ahold of some lockets to bind almost all of CoS there.
old site is still there, and its still got uglar listed as the discoverer in the phat lewts list.

Ashran was the creator of that wasn't he?  I remember meeting him when I was like level 12 in E.Commonlands. He was pulling griffons to the commons->n.ro tunnel in such a way as to trap them above the tunnel entrance outside. This was like the 3rd week of release, before they added the line-of-sight code or the 'mob warps onto your head' code.

That is such a b******t, cheap AI cop-out. The god damn thing should have at least run doublespeed back to it's spawn point, summoned friends, and whooped everyones ass.

I could never understand why there were griffs in EC to begin with! In WC, yeah I understand that. I guess there was a certain amount of comedy in seeing some poor newbie get 1-shotted.
