I think you can just hold right-click to keep attacking something.

As soon as you can afford to, increase your party size limit at the inn and buy pets. Bought the elemental and it's tearing shit up.
Just finished the quest for dire wolves, have to go back to the city and get one to test it - next party increase costs me 1,500 tho =/
Made a dryad archer, the half-giant who joined me became a warrior. Though I have to say his damage output is not very impressive, nor is his tanking. Hope that changes eventually, I'm still only lvl 10 or so :p

Already did all that, but since I had 2 warriors I got the Scorpion Queen for ranged attacks. My character is a tank warrior while the 2nd warrior is dps. I have a shield and the defensive things and he had dual wield and the offensive things.
I was too poor to buy a good wep from the merchant for my dps, so I enchanted a wep with 2 of the 2-3 fire damage augs and a 3% life steal aug. His other weapon was similar. God he owns the shit out of them but dies alot from pulling aggro.

Also in game options you can change something to make him auto attack but it says something about getting less control over the character so I never tred it.

My party consists of:
Main Char - Elf Combat Mage - Death Magic spec, 10-ish in the mana & combat things, and 10-ish in death magic, waiting for the Vampire one next. 500-600 or so AE Life Steal Power & the Energy Ball Power that shoots random things for around 150.
Half-Giant Melee (Lothar) with Shield/Armor spec, pretty much the top-line, and 10 or so in crit. Brutal Blow (I think it's called) power, 650ish crit fast regen, and Taunt Power fast regen.
Dryad Nature Mage (Taar) - 10-ish in -manacost & damge things, working on +ice damage/summon buffs. 6-second Invulnerability + "AE Vacuum" Power that stuns and pulls mobs together.
Ice Elemental Pet - Adult, 150% constant mana regen aura + Ice Aura Power = win.
The Adult Ice Elem is just rediculous, I get about 30 mana/regen tic on all both my mages, and his Ice Aura power is amazing. Power it off, run him into the middle of a pack of mobs, and it's 20 damage or so continuously, and will freeze mobs as well, unless they are the "eilte" versions.

Wow, I was wondering if it was worth feeding all the loot to the elemental - guess it is :p
Kinda wish I had gone combat mage spec instead of ranged, but I'm off the first continent and now in the desert area, and I think it might be too late without gimping the char :p
Is there a way to respec?

I found a cash/loot cow in the desert. There's a cave, I forgot which direction, but go in and don'y open any doors. The mobs are level 30. Click the statue and select the top option each time until 2 things spawn. 1 is a miniboss and the other regular. He can drop good loot and you can repeat it about 8 times. The event restarts too. I dunno if you have to wait a certain amount of time or just log out and come back but it does respawn. Btw, the answer to the statue is 3-4-1-2, numbered for the options when you first click the statue.
I got a +60% gold dropped ring from there, part of a set .

The cave is south, then east from the Azunite Desert portal.

Ohh I know that cave, I have about 20k and nothing to spend it on tho :p
Maxed out my elemental, it really is powerful~ Though since I only have one caster (healer) the mana regen isn't that great. Replaced it with the dire wolf - that way I can get rid of all the crappy dropped loot too =p
At what level can you get more than 4 people in your party? Wouldn't mind a wizard, but I haven't even seen one that would join up with the group. Then again, I only now finished the fortress part, which is still in Act 1 - must be a VERY long lasting game :p

If you're on easy/beginner, max party is 4. I was mad when the innkeeper denied me. I don't remember any other mages than the nature mage you've already come across and I'm at the next town, Aman'lu. At the fortress there's another half-giant you can get and I think an archer somewhere along the way.
In Aman'lu, there's more pets and a quest to get a new pet but I haven't finished it. There's a fire elemental and soemthing else that's also combat magic and like 2 or 3 more new pets.
Act 1 ends like right after the fortress. You're not far now.
The necrolithid's power is pretty neat. While activated, any monsters that dies nearby restores 2.5% of it's max hp to all nearby allies. Doesn't sound like much but it was amazing when my healer had died...again...and again...(mumbles).

And to answer your original questoin Khrath, there's a gameplay option that allows you to switch it to an auto attack thing like what DS1 had.

You started the game on medium difficulty (or whatever it is)?

You don't have any option to start it other than the first. "Veteran" is a 2nd play-through, and whatever the last one is called is for a third I believe.

No, just the normal difficulty. About 1/3 of the way through Act II. I enjoy it lots.

Teleport back to the very beginning and do it all over again, hoping for the best. Enchanting and wearing % chance to find magic items would help. I have a +20% ring I made.
When I did it I got like 3 yellows. /shrug

Oh yea, and if Mimics respawn, they drop good loot. I don't think they do though.
