Since Abi is gone and Kbarr is temporarily deleted I thought I'd seize this window to ask a quick question of yall.

My friend in marketing at Universal is putting together the DVD for the movie DOOM (starring the Rock) and she wants gamer perspective on what would make good content for the extra features.

Anything you want Doom related. What do you think?

I suggested she work in the red, yellow, blue key cards in somehow as an inside joke and I think she'll incorporate them into the menu system.

I was thinking a clip about the weapons of doom, monsters of doom.

The ID story.

She was thinking a 360 picture of the set so you could scroll around and see what it all looks like.

Any ideas?

Haha, that would be awesome. Or at least a series of scenes where you have 3 seconds to shoot bad guys using the remote with innocents and bad guys popping up on the screen and corny sound effects and animations and plenty of splattering blood.

Um, I thought the guy from LOTR and The Bourne Surpremacy was going to play the Marine, and not The Rock?

Pretty sure I read that in a press release here a few weeks ago. Jakanden can probably confirm.

For the PC side of the DVD include the Original Doom1 shareware (or if possible, probably not tho..full version of Doom1, 2 and Final Doom) and the Doom3 Demo. Some other silly stuff like a Doom timeline (real timeline as in the actual releases 1993 to now) to show some of the history the game has gone through. Some info on the weapons and monsters that are seen through out the game and compare them to the movie versions maybe. Information on id and as a special "surpise" if it isn't released by this time... sneak peak shit of QuakeIV.

Seriously tho just put enough shit on the disc so that people will know something about it, what it really is.

Right now the word Doom has two meanings

1) To the gamer its the game that opened up Network based gaming to most of the world. Without it there might not of been QuakeDM or Unreal or maybe even EQ or whatever.

2) To the average non gamer soccer mom... Columbine

Open these peoples minds! Include some sweet stuff for the gamer and non gamer~

Gonna need some suggestions on this idea. It's a great one but how to get away from the idea that the game leads to school shooting sprees?

Show clips of a tournament and interviews of winners and the money they make. People excelling in a sense from games is new to people.

Yeah, show various highlights from gaming tournaments around the world. Show the clip of Thresh winning the Ferrari, show the clip of Mackaveli losing and throwing a chair, show the clip of Bitchslayer and Somefag getting in a fight at qcon, etc etc.

Or show Zero "Mr personality" 4 mumbling after winning a few tournaments. Good times!

Exactly Mug.

Maybe include some footage from id's own QuakeCon and other tournaments. The competitive gamer that does that stuff would probably be interested in it, it would also show that soccer mom with thoughts of Columbine that these games also brings people together for companionship, teamwork, competition and just to have fun. The list can go on and on, heck some of the "pro" gamers out there make pretty large ammounts of cash by winning those tournaments. This years QuakeCon had the first major Doom3 tournament, put some footage of that or something. Kinda gave me a chuckle seeing people booing fatal1ty after he won it =p

Just show that there is more to these games then blowing the heads off of badguys.
