Ever wanted to make your own massively-multiplayer online game? Well, designer David Perry and the new Acclaim want to enlist your help in creating a new "Top Secret" MMOG. Perry will be directing the project, and all along the way he will be involving the Acclaim community in its development and seeking feedback and ideas to be implemented into the game.
The new Acclaim is focused on free online games and has so far released BOTS, while 9Dragons and 2Moons are in beta testing. David Perry, Acclaim's CCO, is a 20-year game industry veteran who founded Shiny Entertainment and dug up Earthworm Jim back in 1994.
Participants in the "Top Secret" project whose work is included in the final product will receive credit for their contributions. The contributor whose work stands out above the rest will be selected to serve as director on another MMOG from Acclaim for which David Perry will serve as producer.
"I've always loved the idea that someone, from their bedroom, reveals their passion and talent, then suddenly can have an absolutely stunning career explosion, becoming a famous Game Director with a pre-built fan base. We're going to make it happen!" says David Perry.
Acclaim will be bringing in some surprise guests along "Top Secret's" development to inspire contributors.
"Everyone wins," Perry continues. "They get to learn how to make professional games, and if they get anything in, they get a real professional credit on their resume. But, if they win, well then they get their life changed."
