Was wondering how many on RP use strategy guides on their consol games, or try and beat them single handedly. Personally I use strategy guides. There are alot of games that can be done without strategy guides...such as platformers, sports, fighting etc. etc. but on games like FFX, Splinter Cell, Silent Hill, Resident Evil....it just seems almost impossible not to look elsewhere for help.

I really hope you only use them when you get impossibly stuck(in your mind). I get annoyed when I see people at the electronic superstore walking up to the counter with a brand new game in hand, and the strategy guide as well.

At least try to use your brain and imagination to solve the puzzles, it's not that difficult. If you needed a strategy guide for FFX, where you pretty much just press X X X X X inbetween fights, then you suck at life.

www.gamefaqs.com is better anyways, only use it when you really are stuck though.

I figure my way out of problems, and i go back and talk to people in towns for hints... =p if i utterly can't figure out the problem, i use a strategy guide.. but i can normally figure my way out of the problem, or sleep on it and get it when i wake up..

Brainlord (snes) is one of the latest games i used a strategy guide on.. =p it asked a puzzle question my entire family couldn't figure out, and had nine blocks to step on in a certain order.. so i cheated!

I always buy the strategy guide with the game. For one, I collect them (I still have the old nintendo power ones for games like Ninja Gaiden, SMB, Metroid, etc..). Secondly, i play through the game the first time without any guide. I ONLY use the guide when i play a game though the second time.

So kiss my a*s people who get annoyed when people like me buy the guide with brand new games Smile

You do realize there are puzzles, and secret aeons, weapons, armor etc. etc. in FFX? That's all i'm talking about. I did need to look on gamefaqs for one boss fight though, couldn't figure out what skill/spell combo to use on her. Who the hell needs a strategy guide for fights.
