I just started the game the other day, and so far I've only had the time to take my Necro to level 4 by doing the very basic quests that trainers and the like dish out. But the way I've heard it, GW is mostly about PvP, so that's what I'm eager to try out. At what level would it be OK to enter PvP arenas, I assume that the game supports all levels and matches you up somehow, but there usually aren't any low-level opponents, right?

LOL, yeah most games work that way, except GW. In GW, you can start PvPing at any level, just make a PvP character and let rip – the game will level you up to the max, so there's no problem there. The thing is you should really stick with PvE until you're comfortable with playing your character, and you've unlocked enough skills to select for PvP later…

You should continue playing PvE first. This way you'll get more experience and reflex in gw. Also, you need nice skills. So I recommend you to have more experience first or you'll most likely lose.

So is PvP completely restricted to "arena's"?
I have been thinking of picking the game up for a while now, but i prefer my PvP to be open world with the ability to raid towns, not just enter an instanced arena everytime i want to fight an enemy.
Any information on this is appreciated.

the one thing about guild wars pvping is, your never going to be the best. You had to have started playing GW a long time ago to be able to find team for heroes ascent and gvg, because the teams always want such a high rank, and if u cant find a team u cant gain ranks

To be good at GvG takes a LOT of skill and strategy. Ventrilo/Teamspeak is required to do good. Playing with a bunch of randoms will get you nowhere.
