Its no secret im no fan of Bush =P but this is a security precaution other than an ego thing.
They dont want an assasin signing up for the civil war reeneactment and bringing to bear his live armed winchester towards monkeyboy

Well, in that case they should have said "don't look directly at the president through a gunsight", except that it would be obvious.
Saying it's illegal to LOOK at the president is truly insane. You can call it a security precaution, but that doesn't make it sane.

Those poor kids marching in the bands are gonna be terrified LOL
The band from the high school here in Camden is marching ..only one of 28 bands, some of which were college bands, so they are pretty hyped up about it
