I keep hearing about the diversity of the online communities in Second Life, but that to me sounds like little more than poorly informed media hype.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the communities of Second Life are rather uniform, divided clearly along "ethnic" lines (goths, furries, whatever). Where is this diversity that everyone's seeing?

While "diversity" is not exactly a clearly defined term, I'm pretty sure you're misinterpreting its meaning here. How much experience do you actually have in Second Life?
