don't these idiots (or the marketing people working for them) realise that probably 90% of people who download TV show do so to AVOID commercials?

I mean seriously if there werent' commercials on TV i would never download a show.
Sure maybe once or twice if i missed an episode, but not religiously.

They are also targeting the people who do not have TIVO but still want to watch their shows but can not, but also won't pay for to watch it.

What do you suggest? They put their programs up for download for free with no ads? How could that benefit them? I give them credit for having the balls to try this, however it will fail because it's probably streaming. Either that or someone will pull their feed down, chop out the ads and put torrents up.

I don't download TV shows to avoid ads, if you hate ads that much you should talk to a shrink about your misdirected anger. I download shows because I either missed them due to scheduling stupidity or because I don't get the channel they're shown on (HBO). Sometimes I'll pull down an old show like Knight Rider that I just haven't seen since I was 6. Commercials don't bother me that much except on stations like TNT that show the same 3 ads every break.

Commercials don't really bother me either, depending on the frequency of them and how varied they are (I get sick of seeing that LotR TBS commercial every break for example). When I download shows it's for a couple reasons.

1. I want to watch it again and don't have anything to record it.
2. I missed the episode.
3. I don't get the station.

The hell with Desperate Housesluts...they are putting LOST up, too! Not that I miss it much, but I figure maybe someone will figure out how to strip those commercials out of the stream? Or is that near impossible?

Where do you get i have misdirected anger towards commercials?
I just don't care to see dancing gum or 400 "need a loan" commercials every 5-6 min in the middle of the show or movie i'm watching.

It's a toss up where commercials are the worst, in the US or europe.
US is like 2-3 min of commercials every 5-10 min.
In europe it's more like 8-10 min of commercials every 30-45 min.
Either way i would rather pay 5-10$ a month more on my cable bill to avoid commercials then deal with em.

It's purely an entertainment / enjoyment factor, not anger.
Commercials are the only reason i buy DVD's or download movies/TV shows.
