Well I just got DirectTV today and something hit me after the installers left.
Can I record one channel and watch another on the same TV like I did with cable? For example. Lets say their is something I want to tabe on HBO, but want to watch something on Sci-Fi?
Thanks again. Cause normaly on Wensday I like to Tape Enterprise & Jake 2.0 and watch Smallville. Any info would be great. Trying to figure it out.

If you have a 2nd rcver then you could tape on that, otherwise, you are fekked. DTV only sees the channel it's tuned into. I have PIP (Pic in Pic) and it doesn't work with DTV...bastards

bingo
you are using their reciever as your tuner on a single line feed.
IF you have a dual LNB dish and run one the leads to your VCR then you can do it (the VCR gets hooked in after the second reciever I do believe) the other lead would be hooked up the same as you have it now for regular viewing of the channels.
Anothe solution to this is get the triple LNB dish they're now offering and have the third run go to your VCR for recording purposes
OR
get the Direct DVR they offer and spend the few extra bucks a month for the Tivo service and take care of everything in one shot
