Aside from more maps and more factions, what features does the retail version of BF2 offer over the demo? I know there are other game modes, but the website refers to stuff like "Soldier kits now affect vehicles that players utilize on the battlefield. For instance, the medic kit can transform a vehicle into a mobile aid station and the support kit can make helicopters into flying ammo dumps." That sounds totally different from how the demo works. Are there any other big differences between demo & retail?

I thought it was like that in the demo too. Ex: When an engineer is in a vehicle, he automatically repairs vehicles/etc thats w/in a short range of him.

It's been a few months since I was on the demo, so can't remember if it was like that or not. But I haven't really noticed too many major differences (or minor for that matter).

The different maps encourage different play styles w/ different kits so it mixes it up a bit. Ex: Strike at Karkand is my fav map is my kit/weapon to use on it is assault/grenade launcher (best anti-infantry weapon in the game, and its mostly an infantry map). But on the Chinese maps where stuff is more spread out and more vehicles, it's better to play a kit that can take down armor, as there is more of it and less infantry.

Oh yeah, the demo doesn't track stats either.

edit: Also the ranking system adds a little incentive to keep playing and get the next weapon unlock.

Ive played demo for a long time, both single player and multiplayer, and i also baught the retail. I played the retail a few times, and its just not fun. The joy of the demo is to log on, enter the same map each time, and fly around killing people in the mig. Sometimes i play the demo for 2 hours straight.
