Any ideas to decorate my room in my new apartment when I move in. I want to make it a really chill place to sit around and hit a bong or pipe and just chill out
so far im putting
Door Beads
Lawn Gnomes in various places in the room
Glow in dark stars on ceiling
Big wooden tribal mask on wall
Corona beach scene throw blanket on wall

The big problem is you have too many themes, none of which work together. Pick what you want your "motif" to be, so to speak, and coordinate the whole thing around that idea. You'll be much happier.
Of course, if your motif is Jimmy Buffet, you're doing fine so far.

bah! to the lot of you...
I decided late in life to say f**k YOU to conformity when it comes to stuff like decorating....
I gave up trying to match furniture, curtains, paint colors, blah blah--been there, done that. Was very nice in my old princess life to have an almost perfectly decorated home. I came to realize that (along with many other things) that it just wasn't ME.
Now, I have a few pieces of furniture that I really like--my bed, my couch, my stained glass lamp, etc...
Everything else is just what "speaks" to me, and I don't give a rat's ass if it matches. Somehow, it seems to work cause I do get some nice compliments, but even if no one else gets it, well...they don't have to live here, now do they? 
Glow in the dark stars--I didn't use them on the ceiling but I made a spray of them on the wall at the head of my bed. They look like they are cascading down onto it. I also have glow in the dark butterflies. Did them on a sort of "return" wall...made it look like there was a "school" of them flying away...

When I was in college I ripped out the combo bed/dresser unit to make more room, built a loft about 6 feet off the floor (had a high ceiling) to be the bed, put a really nice leather sofa (borrowed for four years from the lobby of the admin building) underneath it, and hung indian print bedspreads from the ceiling in big looping folds, and replaced the door with beads. It ended up being pretty comfortable, although the university bitched about the holes in the walls, and they were a little peevish when they finally got the sofa back.

Just get some cheap furniture (Ikea is fine as long as you don't expect it to last) and paint it yourself.
Make sure you've got enough storage.
Go to the poster store and get yourself a poster of a painting or 2 that you like. Get a small one for the bathroom.
Basically, women expect men to decorate for shit. If you actually put some thought and effort into your place, you'll pleasantly surprise your female guests.

If i walked into this room in college, i'm automatically thinking GEEK
no dude, get a couple crap sofas for people to sit or sleep on (drunk chicks preferrably)
put up some random shit on the walls that will keep the nerds occupied when your having a dorm room party
and get a black light. thats all you need. turn off the lights, turn on the black light, and your room just turned into hot hang out central.

(some fell down. damn tape)
Black Light (14$ lowes)
Big lava lamp with blue water and white wax. (10$ walmart, roses, doller geniral) it works damn well!
A blue light bulb with silicon spikes (4$ for bulb 4$ for stand walmart)
Wizard statue with baby dragon (stole from sister (came from doller tree)
27" TV 5cd changer stereo, VCR soon to come DVD player.
Nice Desk/ Nice desk chair! (good enuff to sleep in!)
I also have a love seat that pulls out to a bed.
lots of clutter
clothes basckets with clothes in them
that the shit i got in my room take any ideas u want!
(about to remodel! includeing entertainment system and dark blue paint on walls!)

ok i gotta agree on teh no stars thing way cute for my sons room when he was 5 a potential boyfriend having them in his room would no longer be a pontential anything!
ya want the ceiling to be *unboring* fine drape a printed sheet across or tac up that fake grass bambo type rug stuff for a cieling cover, depending on what your are allowed to do paint it black and take broken mirror chunks and glue them all about a centimeter apart from one another randomly *you can do this on malomine and attach it in the corners with a center support, if not able to do it to the actuall ceiling itself*
i dont know depends on what purpose ya want it to serve really if you are looking to impress the ladies looking for their M.R.S. degree then through some thought and style into it and some of your personality, if your looking for a place to shag anything and everything ya can and dont give a shit then go withteh frat boy teen finally broke free from mommy and daddys rules look.
