I want to know is the death penalty meaningless in Warhammer Online? I just started to play this great game, and I need to know what would happen if I die. One way or another, I cannot find that information on the internet. I am not the passionate player, like many others so I do not know everything about computer or gaming. I can only hope that someone of you will help me with this.

I am also playing Warhammer Online, but the thing is that so far I did not die. It seems that I can play this game, and I never came across any death penalty. I have heard that there are several penalties, but none of them is very hard for a character and for a gamer. If you lose your life in the game, your character will lose certain amount of experience points and maybe some gear. There are several more, but I just cannot recall what they are. I think that the game is not harsh regarding the death, so you can play the game with as smallest amount of worries as possible. it is the best way to play any game. Why to be nervous while you play the best game on the internet?

Just like any MMO, there is always a death penalty.
Even if you are crushed experiencewise with every death, even if your equipment and gear isn't damaged and needing repairs constantly, you will ALWAYS experience the death penalty of time lost.
I don't mean time lost playing the game overall which is a time hog, but I mean the time loss just getting back to where you were right before you died.
Healing, coordinating getting back to your group, etc... all takes time and that is the penalty you will experience.
The other "penalties" are being tweaked still, but you can expect a little penalty above and beyond time lost.

Right now you basically suffer having to either wait 10 minutes for the negative effects to wear off or you can pay the healer.
Then of course you have to make your way back to wherever.
I haven't paid enough attention to my gear to notice if the quality is going down or not.

Well that death penalty sounds a bit boring but I guess there is still time for it to be adjusted before the game is out.

The death penalty seems weak though when in RvR situations your spawn time is 15 seconds or so, plus the travel time to get back into the frey, it's not pleasant.

Thats true. Every death is a 10 minute 2% reduction in attack rating, etc. Not to mention that dieing reducing Reknown Point accumulation through participation, etc. Its the one minute or so that your out of the battle or action that hurts the most imho.

So basicly those 2% would stack up if you die several times? Even if you do this still seems a very low death penalty when you consider it runs out after 10 minutes.

Yeah, from what I've read it's extremely minor. Of course they could change it by launch. But you won't ever have items breaking or gold dropping or experience lost.
Which makes sense, the game has a focus on PvP. If you're not getting out there and risking your life you're not doing it right.

from the videos i have seen, there is little to no death penalty. Many times a player who just died will be back in battle within 2 minutes. This can be frustrating to the opposing team who has to kill the same character over and over again.
